Sing For Your Supper

Product placement at it's best!  Wouldn't anyone who enjoys sewing also like listening to Christmas music?  And fans of Donna Reed would enjoy both, right?  I shared this out privately way back in the dark ages before I even had a blog, and then I re-ripped it and shared it here in 2012, so this one goes way back.  I have some vague memory of another Singer Christmas record, but I think it was just repurposed tracks from other artists, I'll have to see if I can find it again.  In the meantime, please enjoy The Singer Orchestra Conducted By George Siravo Featuring Steve Clayton And The Don Janse Choral-Favorite Christmas Songs From Singer (The Singer Company HE-S1, Stereo, 1964).

1. Good King Wenceslas
2. O Holy Night
3. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
4. O Come All Ye Faithful
5. Joy To The World/The First Noel
6. Silent Night
7. Jingle Bells
8. Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
9. Little Drummer Boy
10. The Christmas Song
11. The Twelve Days Of Christmas
12. White Christmas

  1. Thx for all the xmas music, & thx especially for a look at young Shelley Fabares, the hottest chick (next to Miss Patti Duke) of my tv childhood.

  2. Yes sir, you are correct about another album. from 1963, "A Singer Christmas For The Family" The Mastertone Orchestra Featuring The Don Janse Chorale. No catalog number but the run off wax has singer xmas side 1 / side 2. 3 songs are the same as your post but they may be different renditions since it is a different orchestra.

  4. And I believe there's an alternate cover featuring The Munsters. That one fetches big bucks on eBay.

  5. Thanks for more Corporate sponsored holiday cheer, Ernie!
BTW, I don't know who this young imposter is, but that's NOT Shelley Fabares on the cover. Matter of fact, Donna Reed is also MIA. Zoinks! Looks like the male half of this TV family got stood up for Christmas.

  8. Nice to see this! I bought it ten years ago on eBay and expected the actors to be singing on it. That's not the case, but it's still nice to listen to.

To answer MuffDiver's question: The girl on the cover is Patty Petersen, the real-life younger sister of Paul Petersen, who played Jeff Stone on the show. Patty replaced Shelley Fabares on the program starting around '63, because Fabares wanted to move on to do movies. Fabares made a lot of return appearances after that, however.

I definitely spent too much time watching Nick at Nite in the '80s...
