Seeburg (Not Muzak)

This is one of the records I've been looking for pretty hard now for a few years. I've got a couple of Christmas records from Muzak, but this record from Seeburg has escaped me for a while. And wouldn't you know it, I've finally dug up two copies, and they're both mono. So if you've downloaded a stereo one elsewhere, don't bother with this one. But if you haven't, feel free to grab this one and enjoy some easy listening that will take you back to shopping at J.M. Fields in the early 70's. This is The Sound & Color Of Christmas from Seeburg Background Music (Seeburg 700189, Mono).

1. Medley: We Wish You A Merry Christmas; Carol Of The Bells
2. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
3. The Twelve Days Of Christmas
4. Angels We Have Heard On High
5. Good King Wenceslaus
6. Coventry Carol
7. Carol Of The Drum ("Little Drummer Boy")
8. Deck The Halls
9. I'll Be Home For Christmas
10. Medley: Shepherd's Carol; Patapan
11. O Christmas Tree
12. Here We Come A-Caroling
13. The Christmas Waltz
14. God Rest, Ye Merry Gentlemen (I swear, that's how it's punctuated!)

  1. Are you sure it was issued in stereo? Wasn't this background music?

  2. Nice. Any chance you could reshare the two Muzak albums?

  3. So, what would be "proper" pronunciation for that song? I've seen "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "God, Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen", "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen", and now "God Rest, Ye Merry Gentlemen". Literally every possible location for a comma.

  4. Hi Aaron. This is my second favourite carol, after Silent Night.
So I happen to know it's the 4th one;)

Thanks a lot for this share, Ernie.
Take a little break and rest ye merry!:)

  6. This LP was indeed issued in a stereo version. Stereo copies have the word "Stereo" in the upper left corner between parallel lines. The catalog number of the stereo version was 7-700189.

  7. Ernie...
Don't be so down on mono.
A lot of the vinyl audiophile types actually prefer it.

  8. Ernie...thanks for some more Seeburg. I have their streaming website in my favorites list. From what I've read about GRYMG according to Chip Davis (Mannheim Steamroller) God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is correct. The meaning of Merry was to rest "easy" or relaxed. You're welcome! ;)
