25-Ladies Sing Christmas 2

It's been a while since we've heard from the ladies of Christmas, so here's a second helping from those songbirds that were such a hit earlier. I see that I somehow ended up with three versions of White Christmas in this batch, I guess that was a popular track for the ladies to sing. As usual all the selections are sourced from The Internet Archive, and we thank them for their generosity in making this stuff available. Anything here I should draw special attention to? Well, the conductor backing up Helen Forrest is Earle Hagen, who I believe was responsible for the theme to The Andy Griffith Show. You don't see too much of him. That's all I can come up with for today.  Enjoy!

  2. As a compulsive IA browser, I must commend you on your success using this invaluable resource to locate great Christmas records. I can't wait to hear the cleaned-up version of "Winter Weather." Bob Chester is an underrated bandleader with impeccable taste in female vocalists. Ernie, you are making this such an immensely enjoyable Christmas. Thank you. There is thick snow on the ground here in Ardmore, and these songs will enhance the rare iconic winter scenery that surrounds me. Please keep the music coming--well into New Year 2021.

  3. Thanks for the comments, guys. Mining the IA was what I did for months and months during the lockdown. They don't have the best search engine, and new stuff pops up all the time. It's also not all tagged Christmas, so sometimes you have to try a bunch of search terms or just plain know what you're looking for. :)

  4. Both the Ladies Sing Christmas collections have been spectacular - thank you! The Helen Forrest and Kitty Kallen songs would have been on my list of favorites if today wasn't the first time I heard them.

Your Christmas Dances-share was also packed with gems. New (to me) Christmas waltzes are always welcome.

    Thanks!

  6. Thanks again for all the comments. The IA is full of surprises. It's fun to find Christmas songs by familiar artists that don't seem to be in general circulation. Lots of folks recorded Christmas music back in the day, but so little of it has survived to our day. Well, thankfully it has survived, but we have to dig it out of the old grooves. :)
