Simply The Best
OK, this 45 just came in the mail today, and it's immediately moved to the top of the list for the year. Even though Christmas is long gone and New Year's is almost here, you'll be playing this one for a while to come. Or stick it in a safe place and save it for next year, but you'll regret not listening to it sooner. I had no idea this record existed until a couple weeks ago when I happened to see it pop up as an also-available item at the bottom of an eBay search. At first I thought it was a single from his Christmas album, but a second glance told me that it wasn't. This was in fact a one-off single release, the sort of thing that gets my blood pumping. And when I put it on the turntable this evening, I knew I had something great. I've never seen this single before, never seen it shared, never heard it on anybody's compilation, but it's really good. Download it and you'll see! This is Earl Grant-Swingin' Christmas b/w Christmas Card (Decca 7" 45 RPM 9-31022, Mono, 1959).

A new one on me, too.
ReplyDeleteWow. That really is something. Thanks for keeping the Christmas spirit swinging well past the big day!
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteHoly wow! This is great! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteFor me, Christmas music is a genre, not to do with being played only during a particular season. Saying that, this will be on heavy rotation for some time to come. What a fantastic find, and definitely my favorite 45 you've posted since the Louis Prima offering a few years back. Thank you very much! As always, Merry Christmas! Also, Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI love uncovering obscure Christmas singles from famous artists and this fits the bill! Do you have Earl Grant's Winter Wonderland LP that you can repost?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going into the playlist at Kringle Radio! Thanks Ernie!
ReplyDeleteNat King Cole style ... great!
ReplyDeleteI agree with this special 45 and I choose this last one to thank you for many of yr postings !
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Winter Wonderland, and it's great to hear "new" Earl Grant material. Thanks, Ernie.

Thanks A Lot - Ernie!
ReplyDeleteDang, I missed it, which serves me right for being so late downloading things this year. Ah, well, another time!
ReplyDeleteUm, there's a link two or three comments above you there... Works for me. All the old 2016 & 2017 new shares got a 2018 link with MEGA in the comments.
