Wittenberg (Not Gutenberg)

I don't think I've been to the school choir well in a while, so here's an LP from a small college in Springfield, Ohio. Don't know much about the college or this recording, but I thought it had some interesting song choices. Give it a listen and see what you think. This is The Wittenberg University Choir-Christmas Sounds On Campus (No Label XTV 91909/91910, Mono).

1. Christmas Day
2. Mexican Christmas Procession
3. O Come, O Come Emmanuel
4. Brazilian Psalm
5. Uns Ist Ein Kind Geboren
6. O Come, All Ye Faithful-Adeste Fideles
7. The Shepherd's Carol
8. Angels, From The Realms Of Glory
9. Wake, Awake
10. Fanfare For Christmas Day
11. A Joyous Christmas Song
12. Listen Lordlings
13. Joy To The World

  1. Love a school choir and always up for an Ohio Christmas album. This one is about an hour away from me. I don't think I know anyone who went there!

    1. Seemed to be a pretty small school. I'll find one you know about eventually.

    1. I got a message like that on my laptop, but I don't use the Desktop app and everything continued to work as normal.

  5. MEGA worked on Festival Singers but then hung up at 99% twice on Wittenberg.

    1. I'd give it some time and try again, or try a different browser.

  6. At first I thought that MEGA wasn't working, but the layout is different now. I finally saw the small download symbol, and it worked. Can't wait for more Lutheran music :)

    1. I think they do that occasionally to drive subscriptions. People think they have to join to get the downloads, but you don't, at least not yet. I hope they don't change that in the future.

  7. Ernie, wow...
Why did you not share this before Christmas day 2025? Well there is always 2026.
Anyway, this choir is beyond excellent. This is the kind of choir I expect from a Christian school, whether it is Catholic or Lutheran. Not a missed note and not an off-key voice that I could hear though my computer.
I knew a couple of kids who were in the Lutheran school choir when I was in the Catholic school choir. They basically went through the same rigorous training we did. Constantly being told we were God's little angels here on earth and to sing his praises, etc.
Even when I switched back to Public school and joined their school choir, approximately 50% of us were from the Catholic and Lutheran schools.
Anyway, thanks again for an excellent album. Great things do appear after the Christmas shares end. Pity, not everyone sticks around to enjoy these surprises.
Besides, I am waiting to be scared soon by the voice of terror from you soon. Oops, I hope I did not let out that coming surprise?

    1. Not enough room or time to share it all before Christmas. Glad you think I saved the best for afterwards, a lot of folks think the after-Christmas season is a dumping ground. They'll have to see what they missed next season.

    2. I just re-listened to this on my mp3 player, and it sounded even better. Again thanks for sharing this.
As the say good/great things come in small packages. Here, a small school can outshine a large school.

    3. I thought you were going to quit listening to Christmas music about six weeks ago?

    1. Yeah, hard to keep a big service like MEGA running smoothly 100% of the time, sometimes it pays to come back later and try again. Sorry about all the trouble, and glad you like the Joanie. :)
