Loma (Not Yorba)

Here's another college choir for you, this time from Loma Linda University. I'm not even sure where that is at, I need to go look it up. Oh, OK, the Google tells me this is a Seventh-Day Adventist affiliated university in California. Now I know. Learn something every day. Maybe that's news to you, maybe you already new it, but I bet you don't have a copy of this album. But now you do! This is University Church Choir-Christmas Music From Loma Linda University (Chapel Records LP 5-129, Mono). I think this is one of those records I just grabbed for the cover, I think it's pretty interesting. No idea when it came out though, hopefully one of my faithful readers can suss out the details for me.

1. Excerpts From A Ceremony Of Carols: Wolcum Yole!
2. Excerpts From A Ceremony Of Carols: As Dew In Aprille
3. Excerpts From A Ceremony Of Carols: This Little Babe
4. Excerpts From A Ceremony Of Carols: Deo Gracias
5. Still, Still, Still
6. What Strangers Are These?
7. Three Little Carols: How Very Still; A Christmas Wish; Love Came Down
8. Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head
9. A Cradle Carol
10. Sing Ye, Sing Noel
11. Three Kings Have Journeyed

  2. Once again Ernie, you are sharing some of the best after Christmas.
the exception being the best share of all, hehee, Pound Puppies, hahaa :-(...i just woke up...
Anyway, while Loma Linda does not rank highly as a University it seems, their Choir seems to be outstanding.
I only knew of Loma Linda, because after I graduated Senior High School, I visited, through road trips, what was left and available of the 21 Missions of California. Loma Linda is located as you go up north in California from the LA area.
From what I gather, this album came out sometime in the early-mid 1960s. So, I would think 1964-1965?
I was not scared by this one. But now as I leave this morning, I will be scared by the newish snowdust and slip and sliding effect we now have to contend with.

    2. I just relistened to this album...one of the best you shared this season. It is a true winner, from an outstanding Choir, compared to some of those others.

No, I have not listened to those Pound Puppies yet. One day I guess I should...The Halloween season sounds good. Just kidding. Maybe soon though?

    5. You'll be awake for them, they won't wait until you're asleep.

  3. I would have grabbed that for the cover as well and I'll listen to it because I want to know the answer to What Is This Perfume So Appealing. I'm pretty sure it's Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds. We shall see!
