Teach A Man To Fish

I'm gonna stick to this plain and simple Canadian choir for you now. No French involvement here that I can discern, unlike yesterday. I still have little or no idea who these folks are or when this record may have dropped into my collection. I'm listening to it now and it's a straight ahead choir with an awful of of voices singing over a low-key organ. Or at least that's the one track that's played so far. Not sure what the market for this sort of thing was, but I suppose it existed. Oh, wait, the next track is more of an orchestra thing with no organ. Much more up-tempo, too. OK, this is better. Still too many people singing to get a clear recording of them. Hard to get a good clear recording of a large choir, it just al turns to mud at some point. Not trying to turn you off here, just want you to have some idea of what you're downloading. This is The Fischer Choir-Merry Christmas From The Fischer Choir (Polydor (Canada) 2371 789, Stereo, 1976). And thanks for sticking around this late in the season. It's been going on for a long time now. Have we hit the two month point yet? I think we're pretty close.

1. Jingle Bells
2. White Christmas
3. Little Drummer Boy
4. Ave Maria
5. Silent Night
6. Sleighride In Petersburg
7. Christmas Gifts For All Ye Children
8. Softly Falls The Snow
9. Never The Bells Toll So Sweetly
10. O Ye Joyful

  1. The pressing may have been Canadian, but the choir is German.

    1. Thanks for the info, Buster! You know more about my shares than I do. :)

  2. The name is German and the label is a German company, so I guessed it was of German origin.

    2. Now you can say you have been to a German sing along concert after listening to this album. They are fun, a lot of coming togther feelings here.

But, I think all countries have these concerts. But, I think the popularity is waning due to the age factor of the audiences who are older and the times have changed. Nostalgia.

    3. Yes, it's a tradition on the wane.

  3. Well Ernie, Buster is right...German.
You cannot get any more German-English than this.
Fischer - very German, especially the sch.
The music - very German presentations.
The voices, mistakenly German, German accented.

Wow, you do save good things after the Christmas season. This jumps into my favorites.
It is a pity, so many people I know are not so Christmas oriented, this would be a great album to share with them.

Yes a bit muddle, I wonder what the original masters sound like. Heavenly I suppose.

    1. Strange for me, I have listened to one of your shares, right after you posted it.
      What is wrong with me???

    2. Keep your eyes out for a nice clean original German pressing for me. :)

And you're close to being caught up now!

  4. I was down your way (well, the Keys) since last week so I'm behind, but I'm still checking in and still grateful for the music.

    1. You've got a little catching up to do! It takes me six hours to get to the beginning of the Keys, and eight hours to get to Key West! Florida is not a small state.

  5. Yah, Ernie... Sorry to say, Ernie. Pretty well, from my experience... any artist that has been popular, or promoted... in Canada through the label "Polydor" was usually from another country in Europe. But for some reason, not so... in the USA.
Here is what SecondHandSongs says and use the group name "Fischer Chöre" instead of "Choir"

    1. Sounds about right. That's what I get for making a post without looking into the details. Not the first time I've made that mistake, and likely not the last. :)
