Hawaii, Belgium And The North Pole

Hello, hello, hello. It may not seem like much, but this is the first post I've made since my return from New Mexico. All the other posts you've seen up to now were made in the month before we left to spend the holidays with my in-laws out there. Good to be back in the saddle, at least a little bit. It's been a long season and I don't know how much longer I can keep it going. I've shared out a lot of records and there isn't much left in the pile. But that's OK because we're almost a month past Christmas day and I'm not seeing a whole lot of traffic any longer anyway. The share of the day is a record that I posted earlier in the season by mistake when I meant to post a similarly named record, so there is a chance you've already downloaded it from me thinking you were getting something else. If that is the case, then you might want to go to that old post and download the share I meant to post and ignore this one. If this is a new post to you, then great. This is a remaster of something I've been sharing with you for a long time now (since 2011!) and I'm bringing it back tonight. These guys are a studio group from Belgium that made a series of records that claimed to be from Hawaii. Well, I don't know if there was any subterfuge involved, but they certainly didn't mentioned Belgium in big print on the front covers. This is the Christmas album in the series and it's a good one. Lots of surf/exotica bits here alongside your favorite Christmas carols. Oh, and a couple of great originals as well. It's not Ventures-level good, but it's not bad. This is the stuff, people, better grab it while you can. This is The Waikikis-Merry Christmas In Hawaii (Kapp KS-3444, 1965, Stereo). Enjoy!

1. White Christmas
2. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer
3. Silver Bells
4. Snow In Hawaii
5. O Tannenbaum
6. Sleigh Ride
7. The Little Drummer Boy
8. The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)
9. Winter Wonderland
10. Waikiki Christmas
11. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
12. Silent Night

  2. I feel like there's another Belgian - or maybe Scandinavian - Hawaiian Christmas album out there - can't think of it off the top of my head but I'll get back to you!

Hope you all had the best time. Did you find any records while you were in New Mexico?

    1. If there's another one, I don't know about it. Or more likely I've forgotten about it.

The record buying experience out there was disappointing. I made it to a few record stores but no one had a real nice selection of Christmas records. One place (inside an antique mall) had a few good records, but nothing I didn't already have or the prices were higher than I wanted to pay. I bought a few things, but only on record that I thought was interesting, and I'm the only person who would think it's interesting. Trying to get it finished before I wrap it up around here.

  4. Well Ernie, I downloaded this right after you shared it as the mixed up link. Then, I immediately redownloaded the other link to get the correct link for the correct share. This sounds, even to me, all mixed up.
That said, I preferred this album over the Surfers album. I guess it is because it is a instrumental and I swear I hear a bit of country in it too.
But I was cleaning a full bath at this time, so my brain was water logged, so i guess I forgot to comment on this album, via the Surfers post.
Oh...it takes a good 45-60 minutes to properly clean and sterilize a bathroom. The same goes with a full kitchen. You want all areas to shine.
