15-Non-English Christmas

You know that Christmas is a holiday celebrated around the world, but you may not be familiar with the music of Christmas in those countries that don't speak English. The collection of 78s at The Internet Archive features music from around the world, and I was able to get some good stuff from there to share with you. And it turns out that many countries (and Denmark in particular) enjoy novelty American Christmas tunes in their own language!  So there's a good portion of those here as well.  Lots to love in this collection, so dig in!

  1. Outstanding assortment. This series is setting Himalayan-high standards for curating vintage records. A million thanks would only add up to a down payment on my gratitude.

  4. Wow, this is a great collection. It's interesting that the American songs they chose were "White Christmas" and "Jingle Bells," with one red-nosed reindeer thrown in.

Andy Russell was an American of Mexican extraction who didn't even speak Spanish that well until he moved to Mexico in the 50s, after his Capitol success.

  5. Thanks, Folks!

Buster-You missed Where Did My Snowman Go and Christmas In Kilarney. Not things you expect to hear in another language, or maybe they're just unfamiliar in another language. White Christmas and Jingle Bells seem to show up fairly often, at least in my experience. :)
