Crash, Bang, Boom

From the request lines, here's an oldie from 2010 that features local sounds from around Houston, Texas. This is another one of those records that got no comments the first time around, yet somehow people still stumble across it and want to give it a listen.  So it goes.  This is Crash's Christmas Album To Benefit University Children's Hospital At Hermann (CCA Records 1-1986 (Houston, TX), Stereo, 1986).

1. Crash-The Christmas Song
2. Dave Ward-I Saw Mommie Kissing Santa Claus
3. Sir Shaun Rabb-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
4. The Concert Chorale Of Houston-Carol Of The Bells
5. Paul Christy-Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
6. Jim Westmoreland-Frosty The Snowman
7. Milo Hamilton-A Visit From St Nicholas
8. Dave Ward, Pat Hunt & Tommy Lee Bradley-O' Little Town Of Bethlehem
9. Matt Alan-Jingle Bell Rock
10. Kevin Bass-O' Come All Ye Faithful
11. Marvin Zindler And The Miracle Minstrels-Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
12. The Concert Chorale Of Houston-Coventry Carol
13 George Grenias-Silver Bells

  1. Thanks for sharing! A little info about some of the participants: Crash, Paul Christy and Matt Alan were all local djs. Jim Westmoreland and George Greanias were both local politicians. Kevin Bass was a baseball player for the Astros. Dave Ward was a local TV news anchor who had a 50 year career with the same station. Marvin Zindler was a local icon on TV, he was always helping people in need and did the restaurant health reports. One of his catch phrases was "Slime in the ice machine!" Milo Hamilton "Holy Toledo!" was a Houston baseball broadcasting legend. I don't remember the rest.

  2. an autographed copy!

i knew a guy named crash. actually, i knew him as someone who was a respected businessman named joe whatever. i went to his funeral. there, from out of the past came an entire contingent of people... gray-haired fraternity brothers and whatnot, who kept reveling in the memory of 'crash', my stately plump business associate who apparently as a young man had a series of unfortunate automotive experiences, and thus earned his life-long moniker.

let this be a lesson to all of you. your past will catch up to you. it's a good thing i don't have any money. otherwise, i'd probably have a gaggle of long-forgotten girlfriends trying to sue me for inappropriate sexual contact in the backseat of my old chevy at those cornfield drive-ins many many moons ago.

(they seemed to like it at the time.)

    i know... i know.
