Jammin' Jazz

I don't think I've shared any jazz with you this season, mostly because it's hard to find, and what is out there has all been discovered and released.  But this little record on the World Jazz label seems to have slipped through the cracks of time. or maybe it's stuck in some sort of purgatory since the artists have other Christmas music out there for download, but not this.  Anyhow, it's a little outside my normal timeframe of interest, but when I saw that cover it reminded me a great Christmas record from Jerry Fielding, so I couldn't pass it up.  Take a few minutes and have a listen to The Jim Cullum Jazz Band-'Tis The Season To Be Jammin'! (World Jazz WJLP-S-21, Stereo, 1984).  You'll be glad you did.

1. Sleigh Ride
2. O Holy Night
3. Nutcracker Rag
4. Christmas Waltz?
5. Do You Hear What I Hear
6. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
7. Ave Maria
8. Home For The Holidays
9. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
10. Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
11. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
12. We Wish You A Merry Christmas

  1. Not a big jazz fan, but am deciding to try everything this year just in case. At least I don't loathe the organ and chimes records as much as I used to. Now they just slightly annoy me. Maybe there's hope?

  2. Ok, now this jazz I like! It's not too avant garde or free form. This one is a lot of fun. Thank you.

  5. OK, should be back up now. Still working on getting all of the new shares from last year posted. Most of the repeats are up, but it takes forever...

  9. The file hosting services don't last forever, they seem to go like sand through an hourglass. Thankfully MEGA has been a bit longer-lived, which is why I'm doing all the flashback posts this year. Not much point in sending people to all these old posts if there are no downloads to be had...

    1. Thanks for letting me know you've discovered something from the archives. There's lots of goodies back in these back pages, but I don't think too many people dig around through them. Enjoy!
