02-It's Christmas Time
Day two of the Christmas sharity features 45 more songs from 45s. There's not too much of a theme here, at least not one that you'll be able to spot just yet. But things are not as they seem, just keep paying attention and all will become clear. (I see a track in here by The Keith Richards Orchestra. I don't think there's any relation there to Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones, but I should have thrown his version of Run Rudolph Run in here just to confuse the issue.)

ReplyDeleteHow did you surmise that "Little Klinker" was a Christmas record? Is this another one of Santa's multifarious helpers?
I guess it was a good idea to pick up another external drive for Black Friday. 90 songs already. Yowza!
ReplyDeleteHey Ernie, I missed looking at the blog yesterday… after supper, I spent 3 hrs digging out from another snow storm… I look forward to seeing what goodies you have in store for us. I actually listened to the well known Keith Richards singing Run Rudolph Run the other day. I have to work a 10 hr day, in snowy Grande Prairie, Alberta Canada…
ReplyDeleteSo many great songs! Being a big fan of Jamaican music, I am very happy to see Byron Lee & The Dragonaires' "Everyday Is Like A Holiday"- what a great version!
ReplyDelete"New" Dora Hall Christmas music! She does a great job singing Blue Christmas to a heavily Bert Kaempfert-inspired arrangement. She does a better job singing the lyrics here than on the flipside, which is probably on the setlist later this season. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention,.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Lou Monte Christmas song. Way better than "Dominick the Donkey" and less annoying too. BTW, the hard work you put into remastering these tunes paid off; terrific sound quality on the cuts I have sampled thus far.
ReplyDeleteThe Ferlin Husky song sounds like a Country rewrite of "I'll Be Home for Christmas." You did as best as you could to try to get decent sound quality out of the Frankie Lymon 45; It looks like your copy was pretty beat up. The Johnny Mann one was totally new to me and a lot better than some Children's Christmas records that I have heard.
ReplyDeleteGood Charles Brown selection; Hank Snow was decent but too Country for my taste. Good to have the Ames Brothers on here, even though the song is not usually one of my seasonal favorites from them.
