2022 At 78 RPM-Part 46

Week 46, almost the middle of November! I can see the end from here. Hope you're enjoying all this great music from 78s, courtesy of The Internet Archive. Another great batch this week, and once again, I'm not big on the chat. So have a go at the download link and I'll see you next week.

PS-I got hit by a tropical storm this week. Didn't come as close as Ian, thank goodness, and the wind wasn't nearly as strong. In fact, we didn't even call off work. But I feel like mentioning it since it was in the news.

  6. Thanks for the comments, folks. It's getting close to the 2022 Christmas season, and things are about to get crazy around here.

Oogie Oogie Wa Wa appears to be a song about Eskimos, at least as far as I can tell. And Percy The Pale Faced Polar Bear is a denizen of the North Pole, just like Santa Claus, so I threw him in as well. I throw in all sorts of things that may or may not belong. :)

  7. Wow, how young was Leslie Uggams when she recorded "Percy"--for a 78?? When did recordings for 78s stop?

    1. Leslie was a child star for a while, still using her Crayne given name. Not sure when she fully switched to Uggams.

And they made 78s in the middle 50s, though they kept going in the form of kiddie records and in foreign countries where wind-up victrolas were still the norm, like India. They manufactured Beatle records on 78 there, if you can believe it!
