Christmas In July 2020-41

I had really hoped to be done with the season by now, but I guess I wasn't giving enough stuff out everyday during the month of July. So now that August is here and I'm spending all my free time moving these heavy records, I don't have the time to make snide remarks about all the great songs in the share. I know that makes for a less interesting post, and I apologize.  But I'll be to the end soon enough, and then I can get on with carrying box after box after box down the stairs and not have to worry about a daily post.  But while there is still stuff in the folder, I'm right here with you.  Here's today's share, enjoy!

  1. Well, look on the bright side. Those could be boxes of 78s.

  2. We'll leave the 78s to Buster, whose seasonal shares I am very much looking forward to, on top of the ones that Ernie will be posting.

  3. There are boxes of 78s, but not as many. I haven't started on the really fragile stuff just yet.

And if all goes to plan, Christmas will be really different and really great around these parts. But you know about the best laid plans and all... ;)

  5. There are a few good tracks on this share. I liked Blue Holiday and Good King Wenceslas.

I have to say that The Cherry Tree Carol did not sound like what I've heard before and I found that one a bit painful to listen to. No offence to Barbara Bellows, but that rendition isn't the greatest.

The Modern Jazz Quartet is one of the first jazz bands I started listening to when I developed an appreciation for this genre. No one in my family and none of my friends listened to jazz music, so it was hard to start, but I really like it and this track, although not very Christmassy, got in me in the mood of listening to more jazz - on my own :(
