Nutcracker In July 27
Are you tired of the Nutcrackers yet? No? Good, because they just keep coming. Today's version is by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra-Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Conductor, from the LP Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a (Columbia Masterworks ML 5171, Mono, 1956). Nothing budget about this one. Enjoy!
Thanks, Ernie. Big-name stuff, here, strong reputations, names I recognize. I'm very much looking forward to Buster's very informed comments.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I shy away from the big names. Chances are they're out there on CD somewhere, and you've heard them. That's why I love the budget stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's a real conductor with a real orchestra. It's a record I have myself. Can't recall the performance, but it's likely to be good because Beecham had a thing for Russian music.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need to take a class in classical music appreciation, because they all sound the same to me. :(
