Two Down

Well, we're just a hair over two weeks into the Christmas season, and I've shared out a small pile of stuff.  Anybody have any favorites yet?  And anything you hated and will never play again?  Just curious.  :)

  1. I haven't listened to them yet, but am excited to see the Wally Stott and Barbershop shares, two favorites of mine from the past. Thanks for sharing so much!

  2. I favor the Air Force LPs with guests like Rosie Clooney and Johnny Mathis!

  3. I've been listening to Leo Addeo every night. It's gold.

  4. lots of re-ups that i got the first time round. i’m not much of an audiophile so for me, better bit rates just go in one ear and out the other. but obviously, the more discerning majority here appreciates the efforts that you and buster and lee (etc) make to these christmas records. you really ac-centuate the positive and en-hance the santa clausitive. i guess my favorite so far is the cuban christmas dance album. while i don’t dance salsa, much less the mambo or cha-cha, if you put a few drinks in me, i’ll dance sevillanas all night long. it’s hard to explain.

the worst thing so far, of course, is the switch to mega. i had become rather proficient at fending off trojans and viruses and crabs and cooties over at zippyshare. mega is far too easy. my task manager is still on speed dial, but i’m afraid i’m losing my chops. couldn’t you put one or two downloads on the zip for old time’s sake? it doesn’t have to be an armed forces record. maybe an esoteric offering from some small east european country. in fact, i was wondering if you were gonna perform a leap of faith and get the christmas music of the bulgarian state radio and television female vocal choir. a slight risk, perhaps. but i mean, they don’t have a theme park or anything. and not to disparage their bulgarian roots; but at this point, i would prefer to hear their version of ‘silent night’ rather than another rendition of ‘somebody stepped on my fooooooooooooooootttt’.

  6. Ernie, I'm partial to the Air Force as well. Whether they bring in "star" singers or not, they usually combine good arrangements with fine playing. As to Barbra's request, I only wish I had known. I was in Bulgaria earlier this year, but as I couldn't find the theme park I didn't think to look for Christmas sevillanas, and then wound up going to Serbia where they don't have any theme parks at all. Found a nice Roma band (whose accordion player was flirting with my wife), but that's another story.

  7. Harry - I never let my wife go near any Serbian accordion players. Especially if they are playing sevillanas.

  8. Well, I have to say that I have deleted Marcy already. About half a song from each album was enough. I'm still working my way through the rest. Mega is working out very well, too. A few years ago I would go to my local public library/daytime homeless shelter (don't get me started...) and try to use Mega for some things. It would start out at a really fast download speed but only up to about 95% of the item, then it would slow to pretty much stationary. So I think I never really got any downloads from Mega before. Zippyshare was fast but you have to be superfast to avoid all the crap.

Anyway, thanks yet again Ernie for all this Christmas greatness!!

Swing Along With Santa's Snowmen drove me to distraction, but the Vincent Lopez and The Merriest Time! shares were aces. Higher bit rates and remastering are always appreciated.

Any chance of a Earl Grant Winter Wonderland reup?

Many thanks for the musical uplift!
