July The Third

Another year in the making, this is a collection of the very best track from my 2007 celebration of Christmas in July.  Further reflection tells me that I made a mistake in my post about the 2006 collection, so I'll straighten out the record now.  I had put together the tracks, but my friend CaptOT made the cover. And moving forward through time, I kept selecting my favorite tracks, and I started throwing together a cover as well. Sometimes they were fitting, sometime they were just something I could bash together in a hurry. I like this cover, since it's actually spines from some of the records that I had featured during the month. Not sure if it's spines for songs that actually made the best of or not though. Anyhow, here's the tracklist, and you can always follow the link back to the day I first shared it. Sometimes there's more info there, sometimes there is not. There's always Discogs if you want to find the original cover. Discogs didn't exist back when I started this series, or at least not in the form it is today. It's a great resource, I encourage you to use it. But that's beside the point, here's some great Christmas music!

July The First

It's July! And that means it's time for the annual Christmas in July celebration around these parts. But I don't have things quite sorted out yet, so here's the beginning of a series of stop-gap postings to kill some time while I figure things out.  If you've been hanging around here long enough, you're familiar with the Christmas in July concept, but here's a description in a nutshell.  I collect up Christmas, winter or holiday themed tracks from albums that are otherwise not seasonal.  So if someone decides to do a version of Jingle Bells in the middle of their kiddie singalong record, I'm gonna grab it.  And once you start looking, there are quite a few of these sorts of songs out there. And they're frequently lost to time, or at least to seasonal celebrations, so I decided a long time ago to start collecting them up for my own appreciation, and then later on decided to start sharing them with you. Later still, my friend CaptOT decided I had shared too many songs and created a best-of collection.  He even put a cover together and that's what you see above.  The tracklisting is below, and all the songs are linked to the original day I shared the track.  The old shares aren't around anymore, but this collection of greatest hits has persisted through time and it's here for you again today. Ladies and gentlemen, this is The Best Of Christmas In July 2006 From Ernie (Not Bert)!
