CiJ 2025-Day 25
Twenty five days in, this is the day that would be Christmas if it were actually December. But it's July and it's hot outside, so no presents for you other than these eight tracks of Christmas music. I will say that the highlight track of the day is a great one from the awesome Sarah Vaughan, even if it is only in mono. I picked this up at a slightly inflated price while I was on my honeymoon recently in St. Augustine, FL. I was excited to find a record store and even happier to find a great track for Christmas in July. I stepped up a bit and paid their price since I'd never seen the record before and I knew it would be a story worth recounting here. So there are a few extra reasons for you to enjoy this share today.
1. Sarah Vaughan-Arranged & Conducted By Don Costa-Snowbound (Snowbound, 1962)
2. John Gart At The Conn Electronic Organ With The Minute Men-The Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers (Organ On The March, 1959)
3. Niles Township High School East-Orchestra-Richard Rusch, Director-The Christmas Suite (Winter Music Festival, 1967)
4. The Yale Glee Club-Fenno Heath, Director-Soloist: Don E. Wheeler, '59-What Child Is This (English Carol) (Yale Glee Club, 1959)
5. St. Mary's Choir-Ave Maria (In Remembrance...)
6. Jim Borden-I Wonder As I Wander (Jim Borden Sings Folk Songs-Christmas Carols, 1964)
7. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-Jennifer Johnson, Pianist-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Roundelay Noel (Songs Of '91, 1991)
8. Jenson Publications And Purifoy Publishing-O Come All Ye Faithful (Choral Celebration Vol. VI, 1984)

CiJ 2025-Day 24
If all goes to plan, I'm flying up to Atlanta this evening for a long weekend of fun and excitement in the capitol of the dirty South. We'll see how that goes, but in the meantime, the blog will continue in unattended mode. I'm loading up some shares as fast as I can so that you don't have to wait for your daily dose of Christmas candies. Today's track of note is a drum corp track that I thought was kind of neat. Imagine you're in a hot football stadium and the band of the field starts to play Parade of the Wooden Soldiers. Sure it's part of a medley, but the spirit is there. Enjoy!
1. Scout House, Narration: Richard I. Blake-Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers; Waltzing Matilda (Echoes Of The Past-A 10th Anniversary Special Album, 1971)
2. Yale Men's Glee Club, Tenor Soloist: Bob Camargo, Director: Fenno Heath-Er Is Een Kindeke (Dutch Carol) (Yale Glee Club 1970, 1970)
3. The Naasko Singers-Sweet Ginger Bread Man (An Evening With Song, 1975)
4. Professor Max Hiendlmayr-Adams: The Bells Of St. Mary's (The Bells Of St. Mary's And Other Organ Selections, 1970)
5. The Emeralds-Snow Waltz (Bird Dance, 1982)
6. Lenore Engdahl, Pianist-Snow Flurries (Piano Music For Children By Dmitri Kabalevsky, 1957)
7. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-Kathleen Hayes, Soloist-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Roun' De Glory Manger (Songs Of '91, 1991)

CiJ 2025-Day 23
Day the twenty-third! It's all downhill from here, though I hope not literally. I've been trying to save some goodies in the download folder here until the end so the quality doesn't diminish as the month wears on. You'll have to be the judge of that though. Today's featured track is by the irrepressible Doris Day from the soundtrack of one of her films in which she doesn't dress up like a mermaid. Or at least I don't think she does, I haven't seen it. Pretty sure I've shared this track out before, but it was from a set of 78s. This time it's from the 10" release of the same music. Might not sound any better though as the record was pretty beat. It was from a large stack of Doris Day 10" records I found at a Habitat For Humanity store recently, but this was the only one I grabbed. I've really cut down on my record buying since running out of room and having to put much of my collection in storage. One of these days that storage bill is going to bankrupt me and I'm going to throw the whole collection away, but not today. Enjoy the music!
1. The Hi-Lo's With Frank Comstock & His Orchestra-June In January (Listen!, 1954)
2. Clear Springs Chorus, Directed By Miss Shari Steffen, Accompanist: Mrs. Patricia Paul-Here We Come A-Caroling (Clear Springs Chorus Sings)
3. Doris Day With Chorus And Orchestral Accompaniment-Christmas Story (On Moonlight Bay 10" 33 RPM, 1951)
4. Mike Green, Catherine Slonecki, April Inyard, Scott Jasnow And Kelly Kaneblet-Carol Of The Bells-Ukraine (Holiday Songs Around The World, 1994)
5. Northern Illinois University Wind Ensemble-Stephen Squires, Conductor-A Carol A Day For Christmas (Alfred Concert Band Music (1986), 1986)
6. Angel Serrano-Huerfano Sin Navidad (La Mujer Mecanica Con Baltazar Carrero)
7. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-Madrigal Singers-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Carol Of The Birds (Songs Of '91, 1991)
8. Jenson Publications And Purifoy Publishing-O Little Town Of Bethlehem (Choral Celebration Vol. VI, 1984)

CiJ 2025-Day 22
Moving right along, today means it's three weeks down and a little over a week left to go. Sure seems like only yesterday we were beginning this thing but it will be over before you know it. Today's highlight (or at least the song I'm highlighting) is from the LP above, a space age pop version of Holiday For Strings. It's not really a Christmas song, but it does have holiday in there. And I was quite excited to find the LP with something I could plausibly share. I'm easily amused, I guess. So if you're easily amused, please head down to the download and enjoy!
1. Arthur Smith-Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring (Arthur Smith Playes Bach, Bacharach, Bluegrass & Boogie, 1970)
2. The Columbus Boychoir-Directed By Donald Hanson-Christmas Carol (The Columbus Boychoir Performs Zoltán Kodály, 1975)
3. Walter Brennan With Orchestra And Chorus Conducted By Joe Leahy-The Birth Of Christ: 1) Christ Has Come (A World Of Miracles, 1962)
4. John Chapman And His Choral Group-Away In The Manger (God Bless Us All, 2025)
5. Jenson Publications-A Festival Of Carols (Superior New Works For Concert Band-Vol. IX, 1981)
6. Niles Township High School East-Combined Groups-Richard Rusch, Director-Hallelujah Chorus (Winter Music Festival, 1967)

CiJ Years Past-Day 21
Day 21, this month is finally old enough to drink. But remember kids, don't drink and drive. Drinking and downloading is probably OK though, as long as you do it in the privacy of your own home. Here are some links to old shares for you to check out.
2024 (Looks like I made the same drinking joke last year on this date. I hope I haven't done that every single year...)
2023 (No jokes here, good.)
2022 (No joke, though I reference unlucky #13.)
2021 (A best-of from 2019, no jokes.)
2020 and 2020 (No jokes, but a Nutcracker!)
2019 and 2019 and 2019 (No jokes that I saw, but I couldn't be bothered to read so many posts.)

CiJ 2025-Day 21
Three weeks in and still going strong! Well, I think so, your mileage may vary. The track of the day is a rare spoken word piece (though there's a second one in the share today, so how rare can they be?), though it's a ski-related track instead of a Christmas thing. But I figure winter sports are close enough and I was excited to find it. Didn't know Jackie Vernon had released any actual LPs until I found this. If you're not familiar with Jackie Vernon, he was the voice of Frosty the Snowman in the 1969 Rankin-Bass TV special. Yes, that's his voice that will forever be echoing "Happy Birthday" in your head at Christmas time. I'm sure you'll enjoy his story of what ski lodges were like in their 60's heyday. (There's a short greeting from Jackie elsewhere on the blog, if you're interested.)
1. Lafayette College Choir-Dr. John Raymond, Director-Tenor Solo: Wiliam H.A. Williams, Jr. '59-Go Tell It On The Mountain (Annual Spring Concert May 1959, 1959)
2. Jackie Vernon-Slides Of A Ski Lodge (The Day My Rocking Horse Died, 1969)
3. Niles Township High School East-Lorelei-Richard Rusch, Director-Winter Wonderland (Winter Music Festival, 1967)
4. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Christmas Oratorio: Praise Ye The Lord Of Hosts! (Songs Of '91, 1991)
5. Children Of St. John's School, Toronto, Under The Direction Of Sister Mary Hamilton C.N.D.-Let Us All Rejoice (Music Selections For Come To The Father, 1967)
6. Northern Illinois University Wind Ensemble-Stephen Squires, Conductor-Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (Alfred Young Concert Band Music (1988), 1988)
7. Elinor Gene Hoffman-Picture Books In Winter (A Child's Garden Of Verses By Robert Louis Stevenson, 1956)
8. Jenson Publications-I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (New Music For Concert Band-Volume 27-Easy Edition, 1990)

CiJ 2025-Day 20
Time to see what's in the box for day twenty! I bet it's the same old collection of nonsense I've been sharing all month. Yep, looks like all the same old artists that you've been seeing this whole season. Luckily enough, I've almost shared all of some of those same-artist tracks, so you should start to see a higher percentage of new artists in the downloads. Or maybe you won't notice much of a difference at all, I'm never sure of anything around here. The track of note for today is from the LP shown above, and that's really the most important part because I've been in that hall! It's the Coliseum in St. Petersburg, a city just a little north of me on Tampa Bay. We were there last year for a Christmas market and I remember thinking those big curved wooden beams were kind of cool. So when this LP showed up in the stacks, I was double excited to recognize the spot and to find a Christmas-adjacent song to share with you. You might not enjoy it as much as I did, but so be it.
1. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Carol-Noel (Songs Of '91, 1991)
2. Rex MacDonald And The Silver Kings-Moonlite In Vermont; September Song; Autumn Leaves (Dance-Along With Rex)
3. Texas Lutheran College Choir-Paul Engelstad, Director-Puer Natus Est Nobis (Sacred Music At Texas Lutheran College)
4. Northern Illinois University Wind Ensemble-Stephen Squires, Conductor-Christmas Classics (Alfred Concert Band Music (1986), 1986)
5. The Naasko Singers-Mistletoe (An Evening With Song, 1975)
6. Nashville Youth Symphony, Harry Lantz-Conductor-Children's Christmas March (Happy Sounds, 1976)
7. Jim Borden-Dance Carol (Jim Borden Sings Folk Songs-Christmas Carols, 1964)
8. Jenson Publications-Jingle Bell Rock (New Music For Concert Band-Volume 27-Easy Edition, 1990)
