52-Scoop Six

52 cards in a deck, 52 weeks in a year.  Wrong song, nevermind, we're still doing Christmas around here. And it's time for another random scoop of songs from the pile of goodies collected from The Internet Archive. Lots of goodies here, from ancient carols to new-fangled novelties, and plenty of stuff in between. It's late and I don't have a lot to say tonight, so I'll just leave it at that. Enjoy!

51-Winter Sports

It's really late in the season, and themes are getting harder and harder to come by. But I think this is a pretty good one, even though it's not really about Christmas. All the songs today are winter sports, or at least winter activities. Frank Luther returns with one of about a million other songs I could have added to his earlier post, this time telling us not to skate on the thin ice. His is not the only song about skating (though I didn't grab any new versions of The Skater's Waltz, talk about opportunity missed...), and there are plenty of other songs about skiing. One of those is a Three Suns track that I've been looking for for a long time, but for some reason never spotted it right there in front of me at The Internet Archive. And just to get the post up to a good length, there's a full six sides from the same set that's ostensibly to help you learn to ski, but I have my doubts.  Tried and tried to find a cover image for that set, but to no avail.  If you can find and share one, I'd much appreciate it, I'm sure it's an interesting one. Lots of stuff here if you're in the mood, so download and enjoy!

50-Little Bits

Something a little bit different for share #50 today. Lots of very short tracks in here, something you can use to add a little color or just filler to your mixes. I think there are 25 tracks in here, and I'm sure the total playing time is less than 30 minutes. Oh, I just checked, 19:33, so well under a minute each! I know as soon as I see more than a single song on a 78 that they're going to be short tracks, so for these I went looking for records that showed multiple tracks per side. And what you see is what I got. There are multiple tracks here by the same artist, something I was trying not to do this year, but I figured what the hey... All these records came from The Internet Archive, the place to go for quality rips of donated 78s, and then all chopped and channeled by yours truly. It's a labor of love, and I hope you enjoy it!

49-Scoop Number Five

By now you know the drill. A group of songs shared out under the heading 'Scoop' is just a random collection with no rhyme or reason. There's a little bit of everything in here that I just lumped together, and I think there are going to be a lot more collections like this as the season begins to wind down.  Too hard to come up with a theme when I have a limited selection of songs left to share. But there are still great songs in here, don't get me wrong. The collection over at The Internet Archive is amazingly diverse and immensely large, but it's still a finite resource. All things must come to an end, but not just yet. Keep checking back for more, but in the meantime, enjoy this random selection of music from 78!
