CiJ Years Past-Day 12

Today makes for an even dozen of these daily oldie recaps. I hope they're helping someone out there. Here are some more links to old Christmas in July shares. Enjoy!

2024

2023

2022 & 2022 (one of my classic second-best-of collections)

2021 (Nothing, nada, zip, zero, zilch)

2020 and 2020

2019 and 2019 and 2019 (how much did I share in 2019? It's an embarrassment of riches)

CiJ 2025-Day 12

On the twelfth day of Christmas in July, Ernie gave to me, eight tracks of Christmas cheer! Best I could do on short notice. I'll stop making up songs now and share the featured track with you as shown above. A festive polka that I've shared with you before, also in mono. I wonder why a stereo copy has eluded me for all these years? Such are the mysteries that keep me awake at night. (Nope, I'm wrong, looks like I shared out a stereo copy in 2018. I've shared to much I can't even keep track of it all...)

CiJ 2025-Day 11

Here we are, one third of the way through the month. I feel like it's going pretty good thus far. Plenty of shares, lots of stuff to listen to, and no major screw ups so far as I know. I'm still a bit rusty at getting these posts up because I haven't done it in a while, but it's OK. Highlight of the day is the instrumental LP shown above. The music is not the highlight though, it's those pink elephants dancing around on the cover. You don't see that every day unless you're a day drinker. Anyhow, have a go at the download and enjoy!

1. Clear Springs Chorus, Directed By Miss Shari Steffen, Accompanist: Mrs. Patricia Paul-Pine Cones And Holly Berries (Clear Springs Chorus Sings)

CiJ Years Past-Day 10

Yet another list of old Christmas in July shares for you. Enjoy!

2024

2023

2022 (A best-of collection from 2009)

2021 (Nothing. Slow year.)

2020 and 2020 and 2020

2019 and 2019 and 2019

CiJ 2025-Day 10

A little bit of good news for you today. I found an LP deep in the stacks that should have been in the Christmas in July stack, and another one at a little local thrift store, so I was able to add almost thirty tracks to the pool. That lets me increase the songs per day up to eight from seven. And I'm likely to need to bump that up again later in the month as I figure out what exactly is in the pile. Still going to be a lot of sampler tracks which I know are not one of our favorite bits, but they make for a more healthy download each day. Headline track for the day is from the Allen Keller LP shown above. It's a rerun from a previous year, but it's the sort of thing I really love to find. A true Christmas track that doesn't seem to have seen the light of day anywhere else. And how can you go wrong with something on Charlie Parker's record label?

1. Lafayette College Choir-Dr. John Raymond, Director-Baritone Solo: Victor R. Partridge, '59-I Wonder As I Wander (Annual Spring Concert May 1959, 1959)
2. Clear Springs Chorus, Directed By Miss Shari Steffen, Accompanist: Mrs. Patricia Paul-Westminster Carol (Clear Springs Chorus Sings)
3. Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir 1990-1991-James A. Bogey, Conductor-Adeste Fidelis (Songs Of '91, 1991)
4. Allen Keller And Trombones-Christmas Road (A New Look At The World, 1962)

CiJ Years Past-Day 9

Is anyone actually finding these recaps of old Christmas in July posts helpful? I'm not really getting much feedback on them. I guess most visitors hereabouts have been coming for a long time now and already have all these old downloads in their music collections already. But I'm going to keep doing them, at least for the time being. I'm sure someone new will stumble by and find them helpful. If this is your first time seeing one of these recap posts, these are links to all the old Christmas in July shares in the archives that still have active downloads. There are lots more, but you'll just be frustrated by the lack of Zippyshare download connectivity.  To the list!

CiJ 2025-Day 9

Day 9, nothing really special about day 9 I'm afraid. I'll point you to the selection by Bette Stalnecker today, not for the special lyrics she created for the classic White Christmas, but for the fact that I ripped her contributions a couple of years ago but forgot to share them. The LP popped up in my collection recently and looked really familiar, but I couldn't find where I had ever shared the tracks. I eventually discovered an old rip in my collection and I must have forgotten to put it in the Christmas In July folder that year. I wonder how many other songs I've missed out on over the past twenty years because I didn't put it in the correct folder. I bet it's a non-zero number. But I've got it corrected this year, you can now listen to her at-times masculine voice over and over again. Oh, I also wanted to point out the Mannheim Steamroller link in one of the arrangement sampler albums. There's not much of note in most of those, but I thought it kind of funny that they made a big deal about using Chip Davis' arrangement. Enjoy!

1. Clear Springs Chorus, Directed By Miss Shari Steffen, Accompanist: Mrs. Patricia Paul-We Need A Little Christmas (Clear Springs Chorus Sings)
2. Bette Stalnecker With The Keyboard Artistry Of John Bos And The Bob Cline Singers-White Christmas (Christmas/Spirit)
3. Hal Leonard Concert Band-A Fresh Aire Christmas (Hal Leonard Concert Band 1990 Easy Edition, 1990)

CiJ Years Past-Day 8

Time for another stroll down memory lane with a set of links to old Christmas in July shares. There's so much good stuff in the archives, I wish more people were aware of it. I could repost everything, but then I'd be posting so much stuff that people quit paying attention. I guess there's no good solution to the problem. If you want more Christmas in July, here are the links, that's all I can do. Lead a horse to water and all...

CiJ 2025-Day 8

That's it, the first week is over and done with, there's no turning back now. Hope you're all enjoying the Christmas music at this hottest time of the year. I have a question for you today about one of the tracks. The soundtrack cut from a movie I've never seen is by Bill Conti and it reminds me of something else. It sounds like the theme music to an 80's TV show that I can't quite place. I thought for a while it was Dallas, but I don't think that's it now. Something similar though, like Dynasty or it's ilk. Can anyone place it? Happy listening!

CiJ Years Past-Day 7

Well, yesterday's recap post was extra long and involved, I hope you enjoyed it. Today it's back to the past shares that are still good without all the links that don't have downloads. If you're really interested in the back pages of the blog, I encourage you to use the old page links to the right or the search bar up top (assuming you're looking at this on a computer screen, if you're on a mobile device, then all bets are off).

CiJ 2025-Day 7

Lucky number 7! And a lucky seven new songs for you, funny how that worked out. I gave some serious thought once to sharing out one track on day one, two on day two, three on day three, and so on and so forth until day 31, but I would need to have 496 tracks in the can. I've had years with that many, but not lately, and never all ready to go at the beginning of the month. Today's highlight is the Jim Borden LP shown above. And not just the track shared today, but all five I'll share throughout the month. It's not often you run across an old self-produced LP like this, much less one that's halfway decent, but I enjoyed this one. The back on my copy was blank and had no info on it, but I see a copy at Discogs that has a back and some additional details. This is the only record listed for this guy at Discogs, makes you wonder how such a thing came to be. Anyhow, I'm running on here. Download the download and enjoy!

1. Aled Jones-Organyyd Huw Tregelles Williams-O Holy Night (Ave Maria, 1984)
2. Northern Illinois University Wind Ensemble-Stephen Squires, Conductor-O Little Town Of Bethlehem (Alfred Young Concert Band Music (1988), 1988)
3. The Budapest Gipsy Orchestra-Winter Song (Téli Dal) (Gipsy Serenade)
4. Choir Of St. Andrew's Collegiate Church, Steyning, West Sussex, Music Director: Neil A. Page-Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (I Was Glad, 1985)
5. Jim Borden-Down In Yon Forest (Jim Borden Sings Folk Songs-Christmas Carols, 1964)

CiJ Years Past-Day 6

Let's head back into the archives, shall we, and see what was shared on this day and still available for download.

2024

2023

2022

2021 (Didn't post anything this day, not much to share this year.)

2020 and 2020 and 2020

2019 and 2019

And there were plenty of posts before that, but the downloads are long gone. This Christmas In July project goes back to 2006 while the blog itself goes back to 2005. I feel really old sometimes.

2018

2017

2016 (Nada, didn't do it this year. I was otherwise occupied...)

2015

2014 (Looks like I skipped two years in a row. Like I said, occupied...)

2013

2012

2011

2010

2009

2008

2007

2006

As I said, there are no good downloads at those old posts, but I wanted to show off just how long I've been doing this.

2005

And just for old times sake, there's a 2005 link to when I used to post artwork from the flip side of old albums, I called it doodles and did a whole series of Christmas doodles in July that first year. Good stuff.

CiJ 2025-Day 6

Speeding through the month of July with a wee bit of Christmas music, that's us. I just hope you're able to keep up! Today's highlight is a seasonal (season as in winter, not season as in Christmas) jazz workout from JJ Johnson that I thought was pretty neat. My copy was a UK issue, but I'm sure this came out in the States as well. I find a lot of odd records in my searches, so something from a foreign country is hardly out of the ordinary. I also notice that I didn't remove the price stickers from many of my records. At this point, those stickers have likely been on some of the sleeves so long they won't come off without taking the underlying image with them. That's why I have to do a lot of Photoshop (actually GIMP these days) on the record covers I share in December, there's always something that needs touched up. Hope you're having a blast so far, much more to come!
