The View From The Top

My travels this weekend took me to the Atlantic side of the state for a trip to the Hillsborough Inlet Lighthouse. You've seen this lighthouse on my blog before, but this time I wanted to show you the view from the top. In the photo below, you can see the south side of Hillsborough Inlet, with the waves breaking over the sandbar. (The picture you saw in my previous post of the subject was taken at low tide, and I was actually standing on the sandbar, albeit my feet were wet.) You can see the cloud of sand to the right of the breaking waves. It is this sand that constantly pours into the inlet and makes dredging a year-round operation on this pass.

The Next Week Of May

I think I've shown you plenty of thistle flowers already on this blog, but here are some more. I think I shot these yellow blossoms along the side of Kathleen Road in Lakeland, FL. It certainly wasn't the first time I pulled over on the side of the road to shoot some flowers, and it won't be the last.
