CiJ 2025-Day 25
Twenty five days in, this is the day that would be Christmas if it were actually December. But it's July and it's hot outside, so no presents for you other than these eight tracks of Christmas music. I will say that the highlight track of the day is a great one from the awesome Sarah Vaughan, even if it is only in mono. I picked this up at a slightly inflated price while I was on my honeymoon recently in St. Augustine, FL. I was excited to find a record store and even happier to find a great track for Christmas in July. I stepped up a bit and paid their price since I'd never seen the record before and I knew it would be a story worth recounting here. So there are a few extra reasons for you to enjoy this share today.
1. Sarah Vaughan-Arranged & Conducted By Don Costa-Snowbound (Snowbound, 1962)
2. John Gart At The Conn Electronic Organ With The Minute Men-The Parade Of The Wooden Soldiers (Organ On The March, 1959)

4. The Yale Glee Club-Fenno Heath, Director-Soloist: Don E. Wheeler, '59-What Child Is This (English Carol) (Yale Glee Club, 1959)
5. St. Mary's Choir-Ave Maria (In Remembrance...)

Indeed a very smooth X-mas in July Ernie. Sarah Vaughan is the right ingredient for smoooothnesss. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI thought so. :)
DeleteThanks, Ernie - Sarah Vaughan is always a good choice.
ReplyDeleteExactly. I would have paid the big bucks to get that one myself, since she has long been one of my favorite singers.
DeleteI just wish it had been in Stereo. Now I have to find another copy...
DeleteYou can never go wrong with Sarah Vaughan. Hmm, that almost rhymes.
ReplyDeleteClose enough for musical theater!
DeleteI haven't listened to it yet, but I'd bet that the Sarah Vaughan track isn't what I would personally call a Christmas song. HOWEVER, I won't pass her up. Sassy rules!
ReplyDeleteWintery, let's go with that then. :)
DeleteFrom Sarah Vaughan, "wintery" is good enough.
