The Voices In My Head

Here's another blast from the past that I shared last year and that you need to download if you missed it. The voices on this LP are really great, which I suppose is why they emphasized the word in the title. There's not much to say about this, but if you'd like to read the witty commentary (yeah, right) I wrote last year, click here. Please be my guest and download The Voices Of Walter Schumann-The Voices Of Christmas (RCA Victor LPM-1141, 1955).

Update: It's on CD now!!! So no more free download. Go buy this classic LP on CD here.

  1. Hello, Ernie...
Am new to computers, online purchases, etc. I think I may be interested in the voices of Christmas. Can you tell me the list of songs on that album. I have an older brother who is sick and I would love to present him with this by Christmas. My email is jwneiderhiser@yahoo.com. Thanks, John

  2. This is also an album I had transferred to CD. Wow.

There was a second Walter Schumann album, "The Christmas Voices of Walter Schumann," which I also had transferred. Also very good, but not quite the variety of styles.

And Ilike to cover art too! This site is great.

  3. There's Christmas Is In The Air, an earlier Walter Schumann Christmas effort. It was just shared out at 999 Dances. Here's a link:

Who are you paying to have these records transferred? You could be sending me the money!!! Just kidding... :)

  4. I think mine must be a reissue, I didn't recognize the art but I did recognize the tracks. I think mine was on Pickwick records.

The David Rose Christmas album is also a nice record with great studio orchestra arrangements.

I still have a Waldo de los Rios Christmas album to have transferred ....

  5. Ernie - Thanks so much! I've been looking for the "Christmas Tree" for years. I'm so excited to have finally found it.

The only thing is -- the version I'm familiar with is sung by a guy with a German accent and it sounds really silly. I absolutely love that version. Is anyone else familiar with is German-accent version? Do you know where I could find it?

  6. A friend brought this over the day before yesterday, and of course, I BOUGHT A COPY. Haven't listened to it yet, but will this weekend.

Just received my newly transferred copy of Christmas with Waldo de los Rios. Sounds great. Don't have cover art yet.

  7. It's no longer available as a CD. Any chance you can make it available again as a free download?

  8. It'll be back. It's too good for them to to re-release it. Watch and see.

  9. Walter Schumann fans rejoice! Upon a trip to my local antique boutique today, I purchased, for the ungodly sum of $1, an lp entitled 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer - A Merry Christmas album with both the wonderful story and the happy song told by Paul Wing and sung by the voices of Walter Schumann.' Originally released in 1965 on Camden Records, this (unfortunately) is a Pickwick re-issue, but the artwork is really wonderful (although the front cover has the 'ring of misuse' thing going on, but it can be fixed...the back cover art, in black and white, is even better; this will be provided for Ernie in time for him to post it (if he chooses to do so), along with scans of front and back covers, in time for his yearly Christmas music postings. Stay tuned!

  10. Yeah, I've already got that. The Paul Wing tracks are from 78, and everything else is album tracks from here and there. Nothing really special, and not something I'm going to share around here. Thanks, though.

  11. Is it possible to get a download of this from you? My old record doesn't play as well as it did and I grew up listening to this every Christmas with my mother and father, now deceased.

  12. It's no longer available on CD. If you have a download, that would be very helpful. Thanks

  13. The CD was made for one year back in 2007 it has been long out of print. It would be nice to find an Mp3 copy of the CD. I know you can buy it on iTunes for 4 buck but it only sold to Canadian's iTunes store.

Thanks, but you're going to have to go elsewhere if you want to share CDs, please.

  15. Can you suggest a place I can buy this for less than $100.00 please?

  16. Hey Dave,

There was an online store that sold a digital format of this album. I was lucky enough to have bought it before it was taken down. If you want hit me up at ruggerfootball@ymail.com. Plus if you want the album rip i have that too i am friend with a Russian feller who buy alot of of american records and converts them in his blog. It funny how this type of music has become popular over seas and not even recognized here in the U.S.A anymore.
