Bob 1

Back in 2007, someone asked me if I had any Christmas music from Bob Kames.  I didn't, but the name stuck with me, and by the next year, I had a lot of Christmas music by Bob Kames.  Pretty much all of it is organ music, and some of it is pretty interesting.  Taken as a whole, it's a very interesting body of work, and over the next few hours, I'm going to share it all back out with you.  My first share of his from 2008 was also, as near as I can tell, his first Christmas alum, but far from his last.  This is Bob Kames-Organ And Chimes-15 Songs Of Christmas (King 679, Stereo, 1959).

1. Silent Night
2. The First Noel
3. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
4. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
5. Joy To The World
6. O Come All Ye Faithful
7. Hark The Herald Angels Sing
8. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
9. The Chipmunk Song
10. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
11. White Christmas
12. Jingle Bells
13. Silver Bells
14. Winter Wonderland
15. On Christmas Eve

  1. Records like this are really neat to hear and the organ play on this one makes me feel like I am at a baseball game ha. I also find the artwork for each very interesting and always wonder what the decision making process was for selecting them.

Thanks for sharing all of these unique records with us year after year! This music is so much better than the same old commercial crap on the radio.

  2. So good. These songs are like gold to me. The best Christmas comfort music for a child of the 50's and 60's IMHO. Thanks again, Ernie.

  3. Joe - As far as I can tell, the decision making process at King was to choose the gaudiest covers possible. Have you seen their James Brown covers? E.g.:

  4. I can't help but think that was James Brown's personal choice... :)
