Underground

When the planes hit the Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001, some of the debris struck Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan. There was amazingly little damage done, considering the church lay in the shadow of the towers. The only major damage was the felling of a tree in the graveyard. What you see in the picture above is the root structure of that tree. It was pulled out of the ground and preserved in the courtyard between the church and the graveyard. It's a pretty interesting piece of art, and a monument to another small miracle on that horrible day.
