Come To The Fair

Here are a couple more leftovers from the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, NY. The big sphere is called the Unisphere, and it's a pretty impressive construct. Unfortunately, time has robbed it of a lot of it's grandeur. The fountain at it's base is dry, and when I visited it was full of skateboarders and roller bladers making laps. Not a fitting use of such a grand structure. The green sculpture is called "Freedom of the Human Spirit" by Marshall Fredericks
