Some Stories For Christmas

Here's a great record with some excellent Christmas stories for you. Your host here for the A side is Richard Kiley, who you may or may not have heard of (His was the voice of a tour guide in Jurassic Park. No, I didn't know that, I had to look it up...). He's joined by his daughter Erin on one track, a retelling of the famous newspaper column, 'Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus'. The flip side is carols from blog-favorite, The Ray Charles Singers. In fact, I think these tracks are recycled from one of the records I previously shared. but you can listen to them again, they're pretty good. So go download A Visit From Saint Nicholas (MGM PM 30).

  1. I have been looking and looking for this album. We had it when I was a kid, and I really want to get ahold of it. Let me know if you are willing to part with it!

  2. Hi Shelly! Thanks for the comment. But I'm afriad the best I can do is this free download. I'm a bit of a packrat, I never get rid of these things. Good luck finding a copy, though. At least if you download it, you get a scan of the front and back cover as well as the music. You could burn a copy to CD, print up some inserts, and you're almost better off than if you were to find the LP.

  3. Hi Ernie,
I've been looking for this album too. My brother just came accross your blog some how and sent it to me. I did that record (about a hundred years ago!!) with my dad. I would love to hear it again myself, somehow our copies were lost. Do you think I could down load it as well? Thanks Ernie!

  7. Thanks for the comment. I believe Erin is Richard's daughter. If you downloaded the record, you got a copy of the back of the sleeve, which I think is where I found out that she's his daughter.
