Volume 8 For Hi-Fi Living

It's been three weeks since the last time I shared a volume of Hi-Fi Living with you, but I'm back in the groove and ready to go tonight. We're going to spend a little time at the beach, or at least long enough to take a picture. Doesn't the blanket that the woman is on look like a big pair of lips? I wonder if that's intentional? Hmmm... Anyhow, please download and enjoy Malcolm Lockyer And His Orchestra-A Lazy Afternoon-Vol. 8 For Hi-Fi Living (RCA Custom RAL-1008, 1957). It's smoooooooooooooooooth!

Don't forget, if you're just joining the party, you can still download the previous 7 volumes of this series (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). And stay tuned, we're in the home stretch now, with only volumes 9 through 12 left to go!

  1. Thanks again. I can't wait for the rest of them.

  2. Don't want to complain, but this re-recording is not up to your high standards. There seems to be a lot of noise that did not come from the record. I have no idea what it is, but sounds a lot like bubbles or some sort of distortion. It is a great record and if you can clean it up for us it would be greatly appreciated, but if not, we will love it just the same.

  3. Hey Ernie. Don't listen to this guy. I've heard three tracks now and it sounds fine.

And Fixxitt... wow, dude. You say you don't want to complain, but then you complain. And it's not enough that Ernie gives us this stuff for free, but then you tell him to "clean it up for us" to boot? Wow. No wonder so many great sharity blogs close up shop.

  4. Hey Fixxitt...Which tracks are giving you a problem? If I need to re-encode the WAV files, I can do that, but I can't find any bad spots after a quick listen. I'm on the way out the door now, going to Ohio, so I can't fix it until the end of the week, but I'd really like to get it right if there really is something wrong. Anybody else hearing any artifacts in there?

  5. Malcolm Lockyer ... now there's an orchestra that I remember from the old days and that I haven't come across before in the 10 months that I have been surfing the sharity blogs. Splendid stuff.

I don't know what fixxitt's problem is - it could be a loose connection, or faulty equipment, or something wrong with his hearing.

Sure enough, if you listen very closely you can just about make out some very faint clicks here and there, but certainly nothing to be hypercritical about. A lot of noise? Some sort of distortion? Nonsense.

Thanks very much for sharing. I'm looking forward to volumes 9 through 12.

  6. Thanks for all the comments. I have downloaded the file again and this this time I got a clean copy. I have no idea what happened. I con only imagine that the line was noisy and the file picked up that noise.

Ernie, thanks for the rip and all the others too. The problem is not on your end. I have never heard that noise before. You have met your usual standards and I was the one who goofed!

The noise I heard, incidentally, was on tracks 3, 7, and 9. I do not hear a bit of it on the new download.

  7. I'm glad it seems that there is nothing wrong with the files. I have screwed them up before, and you never can tell when it's going to happen again. If you guys find something that's not right, please don't be afraid to let me know!

  8. I just ran across this album. Altho I have a few others in this series I'm happy to find a few more here. Thanks very much taking the time and going to the trouble of providing them. It's very much appreciated.

  9. I think they're badly in need of a remaster. Five years ago, I have no idea how good of a job I was doing with recording, but I'm sure I'm much better now. :) I'm even surprised these things are still shared!
