Traditional Thanksgiving

Good morning! As I have done for many years now off and on, I like to start out the holiday sharity season with this old chestnut of a single. I first shared this with you all back in 2005, and I appear to have re-recorded it in 2010, but I think it's due for another go-round at this point.  Problem is, I haven't seen the single for a while, and haven't been able to find it to have another go at it.  So this is a fairly low bitrate version, I don't know if it's the best thing you'll hear this year, but it's a great song. If you haven't downloaded it before, please be my guest.  It's good stuff.  And as they say in the funny papers, always check the comments!  This is Thanksgiving Day Parade by Spencer Ross (Columbia 4-41532 7" 45 RPM single, Mono, 1960)

  1. And here's a copy of the full album from Spencer Ross, featuring Tracy's Theme, but no sign of Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was kind of excited to find this, and in stereo no less, but it's not my favorite album or anything.

Well, I'll have a link for you just as soon as I can make my Clipboard work. What an odd problem...

  4. Welcome back Ernie

As for yours truly a day of rest before the ringing in my ears starts...courtesy of THE Salvation Army... This will mark my 15th consecutive kettle season at the same store and the for first time the kettle will end on New Year's Eve instead of Christmas Eve... This is due to the shortened kettle season and our friends at Smith's are allowing us to ring a week later...

The funny thing is that I'm getting more requests for bagpipe music than anything else over the past few years and I'm running out of resources for this most saintly of instrument...

  5. Thanks for the Spencer Ross LP, old pal! Very much looking forward to it!

Santa - I encountered my first Salvation Army bell-ringer yesterday, when the winds were blowing about 40 miles an hour. He was outside a Walgreens and looked miserable. I hope the weather cooperates the rest of the season for him and you and all who get arm cramps from ringing the bell. Happy holidays to you, Ernie and everyone!
