Trumpet Mann

Here's another oldie that came up on my iTunes today and made me stop for a second. This is a trumpet Christmas album, which is something you don't hear every day. I've shared it out a couple of times before, but in case you missed it, here it is again. Oh, and I've seen it with two different covers, shown above and below. Same music, different picture, that's all. Anyhow, be my guest and download Gary Mann-Blues For Baby Jesus (The Educator & Executive Insurance Companies EE-101, Stereo, 1972).

1. Jingle Bells
2. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
3. Alone At Christmas Time
4. Sleigh Bells
5. Blues For Baby Jesus
6. O Holy Night
7. Adeste Fidelis
8. The First Noel
9. Silent Night
10. Christmas Song

  1. Oh HOW did you ever find this? I thought it was dead and buried.

My father got this when I was in high school. It was a freebie from an insurance company aimed at educators. As a high school trumpet player, this was GREATLY amusing to our group, as this is the only trumpet player I know to play with a paralyzed lip (see liner notes to confirm)

He also totally screws up the words to JINGLE BELLS:

    "Bells and Bobtails ring
    making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride
    a sleighing song tonight"

This literally takes me back 40 years to high school. Many many thanks.

  3. My parents wore out this record when I was a child. I just found a copy of the LP and turned it into a CD for them, since they don't have a record player any more. It's strange to hear something I know so well that I haven't heard in 25 years. Interesting to hear it now that I have more perspective on the music too. Thanks for posting it.
