Christmas In Cincy

I don't know why but I'm trying to overload you with Christmas music here on this first day of sharity. I don't like the idea of taking my time and slowly doling it out, I want to push out as much Christmas music as I can just as quick as I can. I'm sure some of you aren't even done with your Thanksgiving dinner yet, but here I am, chomping at the bit, ready to go, Go, GO! What can I share next? I've got so much stuff in the bin ready to go, it's hard to choose something. How about a bunch of songs from schoolchildren in Cincinnati? I've shared weirder stuff. This is Christmas Songs From Our Schools-A 1984 Cincinnati Christmas Album (The Central Trust Company CT102684RPW, Stereo, 1984). Look at that label with the hand-typed text. I guess 1984 was well before home computers and the publishing revolution that came with  them. Even in 1988 I headed off to college not with a laptop but with a new typewriter. I don't think I ever used it though. I spent hours writing whatever needed to be written in the computer labs, then printing them out on the shared laser printers. Those things probably cost more than a dollar a page to print at the time, but they were free for students. Somebody saved a lot of money by hand typing those labels you see and not having to send them to the typesetter.

  1. Ah yes, the strike-on printer days. My office had a couple of them - we had to buy noise hoods because they made so much racket.

Anyway, the label may be lo-tech, but the cover is nice!

    3. Dunno, but kinda reminds me of some of the files my TapinRadio program records from live streams. Ah, some of my fondest High School memories, are Chorus memories. Personally speaking as well, I went back not too long ago, for our Thirtieth Class Reunion and one of the highlights for several of us, was seeing our Chorus teacher, who my sister-in-law brought there. Merry Chirstmas, a little early (oh, maybe that's late LOL), looking forward to more, love and praying for y'all.

    4. Well, back in the day we didn't have livestreams, a record (or tape) was your only way to document stuff like this. Merry Christmas to you as well, it's never too early or too late. :)

  2. Your enthusiasm after all these years of doing this is amazing. As Linus said in an old Peanuts Christmas strip, "Go man, go!"
