Stereo Surprise
I wasn't going to share out any new albums this year, but I found a little surprise for you. My buddy Buster at this blog Big 10 Inch Record posted a fine collection of Christmas music by Jack Jones and he was kind enough to point to one of my old shares featuring some music Jack recorded for the Air Force back in 1966. After I noticed this, I took a look at my old share and noticed I'd shared a mono copy of the record. I spent a few minutes searching the stacks and discovered that I had since come up with a stereo copy at some point. Some more digging revealed that I had actually recorded the stereo version back in 2021, but never did anything with it. So I went and found the old files on a backup drive, cut the sides into large pieces, scanned the cover and labels, and here it is for download. I didn't cut it into individual songs, but I did remove the promo announcement from the beginning of each show and made that it's own track, then left each show as a single track you have to listen to front to back. That's the way I first shared it in mono back in 2016 (though I do appear to have cut it up into song-sized chunks for you back in 2018). Maybe in another two years I'll have time to cut this one into pieces as well, but I figure something is better than nothing. So for your listening pleasure, here is The United States Air Force Presents Christmas Programs Featuring The Air Force Band With Jack Jones And Edward G. Robinson (The United States Air Force Public Service Program GXSV 220280/220281, Stereo, 1965).

If you aren't familiar with this USAF radio show, there was a series of four of them issued from 1966 to 1969, and with this post I've shared all of them in stereo. You can check the others out here, here and here.
Thanks for the plug, buddy, and thanks for the stereo version!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me that I had it. :)
