Hi Ho

This far after Christmas, the Saturdays aren't quite as super as they were back in the middle of the season, but I've still got a few things up my sleeve. I'll start with the great German crooner that seems to be a bit too out-there for the American market (though this does appear to be a US pressing). I don't want to prejudice you any, but if you're not familiar with him, please be my guest and download Heino-Deutsche Weihnacht Und Festliche Lieder (A Festive German Christmas) (Peters International PLD 7084, Stereo, 1969). Enjoy!

1. Es Ist Für Uns Eine Zeit Angekommen; Kling Glöckchen, Klingeling; Leise Rieselt Der Schnee
2. Laßt Uns Froh Und Munter Sein; Morgen Kommt Der Weihnachtsmann; Alle Jahre Wieder
3. Vom Himmel Hoch, Ihr Engel Kommt; Süßer Die Glocken Nie Klingen; Der Christbaum Ist Der Schönste Baum
4. O Tannenbaum; Morgen Kinder Wird's Was Geben; Ihr Kinderlein Kommet
5. Kommet Ihr Hirten; Am Weihnachtsbaum Die Lichter Brennen; Fröhliche Weihnacht Überall
6. Vom Himmel Hoch, Da Komm Ich Her; Es Ist Ein Ros' Entsprungen; O, Du Fröhliche; Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht
7. Die Himmel Rühmen (The Heavens Are Telling)
8. So Nimm Denn Meine Hände (Take My Hands)
9. Lobe Den Herren (Praise The Lord) (Choral)
10. Menschen, Die Ihr Wart Verloren (You Men Who Were Lost)
11. Still Wie Die Nacht (Still As The Night)
12. Ich Bete An Die Macht Der Liebe (I Pray To The Power Of Love)
13. Ave Verum Corpus
14. Ave Maria

    2. Wow! Thanks for the link to the special. (And Ernie, for the share - this late one ranks among my favorites of this year, along with Bob McGrath in Japan early in the season.)

    3. I'm afraid to watch that, my eyes might fall out...

    4. It's got a singing snowman with sausage lips and children basking in the glow of Heino. What more could you want?

    5. I wanna see the Carol Burnett version of that!

  2. My dad brought no musical preferences to the table, but mom, from the Scholler side of the family, brought lots of just these sounds to any holiday gathering. Thanks for the pleasant memory jogging!

    1. I think that's one of my main goals around here. If I can't introduce you to something new, I want to evoke a pleasant memory from the past. :)

  3. I like old-style German pop music, but I don't get Heino.

    1. You don't get Heino. He just is. And thank goodness for that.

    3. I got my first Heino album earlier this week; a medley-heavy album that is nautical-themed yet includes such notable fare as "Vaya Con Dios." Thanks for unearthing and sharing his Christmas album with us.

    4. He seems to have put out a pretty good stack of stuff over his career. He may still be putting it out for all I know, I didn't check.

  4. Heino cracks me up! 😆 Soooo, maybe some Anglophones like him, ironically? 😁

    1. I'm sure he has his fans out there, but he's going to turn us all in to Germanophobes!

  5. When I searched "Heino" on SecondHandSongs.com - I found a bunch of them, but when I searched different ones singing with him, that were all popular artists. So, he must have been popular also :)

    1. I think he's popular enough, but mostly in Germany.
