Down The River
Here's another Christmas record that involves a river somehow. Not much a theme I know, but it's long past Christmas and nothing much matters anymore. At one point I was trying to collect up a Christmas record from every state in the union and this was my entry for Iowa. Someday I hope to finish up that collection, but I'd like to find a record that actually has Iowa in the title. This is Fort Madison High School Choirs-Christmas On The Bend Of The River II (No Label FMHS 1984, Stereo, 1984). I notice this is part two, so now I'm obligated to track down volume one. Heaven knows how I ended up with volume two, so this might be a hard one to complete the set.

Quite an interesting program for a high school!
ReplyDeleteKids today are much more ambitious, though this is pretty old at this point. Think what they're doing in high school music classes these days!
DeleteNice to have a High School Album, thanks Ernie :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!!
DeleteI would have been so proud to be a member of the Bloodhound Singers! Memorable name
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to be in The Bloodhound Gang, but that's a different story. Not the band either, they came later.
DeleteWhenever there's trouble, we're there on the double...
DeleteYes, that one! :)
Deletewell, well, well...forgive this comment, but...
ReplyDeleteno caps in this comment.
this album, from a choir member from 3rd to 12th grades (college and uni, I decided not to join even though I was recruited), was truely horrendous.
how could they ever think about making a recording of them. torture to the senses.
not one age or group passed beyond mediocre for me.
okay, if you find vol. I or whatever, maybe it will be an improvement, but i sincerely doubt it.
i wished i would have kept a favorites and non favorites list, if so, this would not have made either list.
Ouch!
DeleteI love picking up high school Christmas albums - you never know what you're going to get and sometimes you're surprised in the best or worst way. Either way is good!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious what states you still need for your collection?
There are so many of them, it's a never ending quest.
DeleteI have no idea what states I have or need, I've never started an official list. I suspect I need some of the upper midwest states, those don't show up too much. Utah, Montana, Idaho. The rest are just a matter of documenting what I have. I think I have Hawaii, but not a school in Alaska. One day I'll follow through on my threats and share all fifty states in a row.
