Conservationists

Here's an interesting remaster that you might not recognize if you aren't really looking at the details. Took me a while to realize what was going on here, but I think I have it figured out. This was one of those records that you could order with your own special cover on it, then sell or give it away as your own, maybe as a fundraiser or a gift. This one was produced for your Mobil oil dealer, so it's kinda similar to some other records produced for Mobil in the same time period featuring Robert Way and The King Family (though this one doesn't feature a volume number). Took me a bit to realize that I had previously shared a version featuring the same artist and music but with a different cover. That one seems to have been produced for a local newspaper publisher. All of these records were made by Fleetwood Recording Studio, an outfit that made bespoke records with a sideline in recording marching bands. I hope that's not too confusing. None of it's important, all you need to do is download and enjoy The Conservatory Caroleers Of New England-The Sound Of Christmas (Fleetwood Recording Studio For Mobil FCLP3017, Stereo, 1966).

  1. Very cool! Apologies for missing so much of the fun - got knocked out with the superflu for a while but I’m (mostly) back in action! Hope you and Meredith are staying healthy!

  2. Everytime I look at this album cover, it reminds me of some Salvation Army ones, but not particularly Christmas albums. Similar style though.

    1. Yeah, I can see that. Not the best cover, but certainly not the worst.

  4. What a joy to listen to this album.
Glad you save a good one for after Christmas and not one of those off-key Choir albums.
This group has a very good Choir Master, or they just happened to be more professional singers.
At least the added a nice rendition of Christmas Is Coming, a song that is not often included in Christmas albums.

    1. You really like this one? I didn't think it was very well done. Maybe I need to go back and listen again.

    2. Well, yes I did.
But this day I was extremely stressed out. I was out of town the day before for a client. I woke up this morning and had lost my key case, I had my keys, but their key was lost. Then I went out of town for another client this day. So, this started my stress.
The people have started vandalizing the transportation system, so the city train systems were messed up.
Plus strange people have been coming out of the wood work these past days.
Anyway, I found my keycase and my clients key...in the trash.
So, all the music I listen to that day, either seemed better or worse to me, as my mine was colored.
But, I still liked this one. I am listening to it again as I try to wake up.

    3. Music is always susceptible to the atmosphere in which it's heard. That's why it's best to listen in a quiet room with no distractions for best effect. And usually quite loud if possible, for maximum dynamic range. :)
