43-Kanaka Christmas

Potluck is what it says by my notes for today's theme. I think that's not entirely true as I managed to squeeze in a few Hawaiian Christmas records that sorta go together, but beyond that I don't see much of a theme here. 1. Amazing - Hawaiian Christmas songs without "Mele Kalikimaka"!

  2. Good thing you were able to sneak in Michael Damien sometime this season; that has been one of my favorites since you initially uploaded it here during the 2022 Christmas season. I was surprised that another label harnessed the mid-'60's Capitol Star Line 45 label design years after they quit it (in 1991, no less, during a time when new vinyl meant either 45s or a special pressing from a record club!)

    1. I keep hoping to find something by Michael Damian as good as his Rock On cover, but alas, it's never going to happen. :(

  3. Aside from Les and Mary, Johnny Desmond, & the DeCastro Sisters, there really isn't much in this playlist that I will be listening to; you have Christmas 45s in your collection from artists I would have never have in mine.

    1. I buy just about all the Christmas 45s I can find that are cheap, I'm not too picky. :)

  4. Ernie, you never cease to amaze me :)
I understand that this is a time past what "normal" citizens listen to Christmas music, but I love coming back everyday, and seeing what you have put together for us. You know that themes don't matter to me, but I know you enjoy them :)
You are simply the best! You know that this coming Wednesday is Eastern Orthodox New Years, then we have Candlemas and Chinese New Years... All the long lasting power, you posses! "I'm in this for the long run" ;)

    1. Well, I don't think we're gonna make it that far, but if you wanna send me a big stack of Christmas singles I don't already have, I'll see what I can do. :)

    1. Santa doesn't have a whole lot to do this time of year anyway, so he can spend some time catching up on his Christmas listening. :)

  6. Dear Ernie, there it is!!! Paul Ankas Japan Jingle Bells. Fantastic. Why it is not as Bonus on the reissue of the christmas album?
I do like Alfred Apaka And The Hawaiian Village Serenaders with Winter Wonderland, the Ral Donner song and Rudolph from The Melodeers. Many thanks.

    1. It was only recently I discovered that the B side was a new recording and not the version from Anka's LP. I doubt the people in charge of the reissues even know this single exists. I think the A-side was a bonus track on the Japanese reissue, but I was told the sound is lousy.

    1. I think both sides of this single are edits or remixes of stuff from his LP.
