Christmas In July 2023-Part 14

Two weeks in, everybody still doing all right? Are you keeping up OK? I'd ask if I've lost anybody yet, but I have to assume they aren't here to answer. I hope I'm not shedding visitors already. We're less than halfway to the end of the month, but it feels like it's still a long way away. Here's six more songs for you:

1. Roberta Sherwood With The Malcolm Dodds Singers And Orchestra-Children, Go Where I Send Thee
2. Geoff Tyus With George Benson-My Favorite Things
3. State Radio Orchestra Of The U.S.S.R.-Conducted By Samuel Samosud-Children's Chorus Under Direction Of V. Sokolov-Winter Holiday (Children's Suite): Waltz On The Ice
4. Marni Nixon-Orchestral Accompaniments By Ed Jurey-Christmas Tree Angel
5. The Ringing Belles-Rachael Kuivinen, Director-Carol Of The Bells
6. Czech Film Symphony Orchestra Conducted By Vaclav Neumann-December (Christmas)

Have fun!

  1. I thought you had posted the Ringing Belles' Carol of the Bells earlier, but it must have been something or someone else. I haven't saved everything this month.

    1. I hope I'm not repeating myself already. I think I posted all the shares from that LP in a previous year, but these are new rips. And why would you not download everything I share??? :)

  2. Yes, that Ringing Belles record rings a bell. Actually there have been a few by them this year. (This proves I am paying attention.)

    1. Well, I have a lot of tracks by them. You'll be very tired of them by August. :) My keyboard is dropping random keystrokes, must need batteries...

    2. Ah, the Bluetooth variety. I haven't used anything but a laptop for many years.

    3. Laptop keyboards are too cramped for my taste. Fat fingers.

  3. Still here, still downloading, still enjoying all of it.

  4. By far the best version of "Children Go Where I Send Thee" that I have ever heard! It was just a few days ago that I found out Roberta Sherwood recorded for ABC-Paramount (she cut an album in Nashville for the label from which "Have You Ever Been Lonely" was uploaded to YouTube)." Children" almost has an Aretha Franklin Gospel vibe to it. Taking a look at the album cover on E-Bay, you've got another tune to feature here in this series from this album, "Go Tell It On the Mountain!" Great stuff.

Marni Nixon cut was great, yet it was too short!

    1. Yeah, Roberta Sherwood is good stuff, and yes there's another cut coming. I've shared out both is previous years, but when I see a new copy of a record I remember that may be in better shape, I like to grab it and rip it again. :)

    2. Collector after my own heart! I regularly look for pristine copies of albums I already have to replace the slightly scratchy ones or the cover. I usually keep the upgraded version and send the previous copy to Goodwill.

    3. My technique is to buy the record thinking I don't have it, then discover I have two copies and keep all three.

The corollary of this is to not buy a record thinking I already have it, then discover I don't, then go back to find out it's no longer there.

    4. The on-line version of this is to finally discover a record you have been looking for - incredibly cheap - order it, and have the dealer cancel the order three days later saying the item is "no longer available."

    5. Yeah, I need to get rid of the inferior copies and cut back the storage bill. But I'm lazy...

    6. Buster-that happens to me more often than I care to count. But then I'm stuck with all the other marginal stuff I found to buy in order to reduce the average shipping charges. :( I suppose that's part of the price we pay for being able to order such a wide array of stuff that used to require serious digging to find.

  5. I download everything, I just don't necessarily save everything. I don't have the memory space to keep anything I'm not going to listen to in the season.
