2022 At 78 RPM-Part 28

This post is probably getting lost in all the Christmas in July hullabaloo around here, but this is part 28 in a series that's been on-going since the beginning of the year. Perhaps you're just now joining us, and if so, please work your way back to the beginning so you get all 28 installments. These are Christmas songs ripped from 78 RPM shellac records by The Internet Archive and their Great 78 collection. People donate 78s to them (usually as part of a large collection, but not necessarily). They have them professionally cleaned, recorded and photographed by a company called George Blood LP, then I download them, clean up the audio a little bit, crop the photos down to size, put the whole package together as an MP3 file, and share them with you a playlist at a time. Week 28 consists of 28 different songs, 28 different artists, recordings that span 40-50 years of history. It's an eclectic selection of Christmas music, most of which has been forgotten by history. Some of the songs are likely familiar, but I can pretty much guarantee that there are things in every download that you've never heard. Even if you're an experienced collector of such things, there's still such a wide variety in here that I doubt if you'll be familiar with each and every recording. Don't believe me? Download and give a listen to these tracks. Lemme know what's new and different to you, or if it's all the same old boring songs you hear on the radio at Christmas. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

And on a personal note, today is the six month anniversary of my little heart attack. Things seem to be going well, as far as I can tell. After a quick flurry of follow-up appointments at the time, my next round a check-ups is next month. We'll see what they tell me. I'm eating well still, but probably not exercising like they would like to see. One step at a time, right?

  1. I certainly am glad you are continuing to do well! Let's hope that continues for many years to come.

This is quite the collection with many things of interest to me, electric harmonicas and Richard Key Biggs notwithstanding. Thanks!
