Thanks for the usual varied fare! I have to admit that "Hicksville's Christmas Greetings 1948" in particular sounds intriguing.

ReplyDeleteYou're posting what you're calling "a seemingly-unending series". The "seemingly" part is certainly beginning to seem extraneous. This is not a complaint; I'm just afraid you'll burn out if you're not careful. Thanks for all the music you've spread over the years!
ReplyDelete@Buster, did you happen to note the decidedly regional accents of the speakers on that Hicksville record?
JeepGuy - You're right! Almost certainly the Hicksville on Long Island.
ReplyDeleteI've come to the point that I'm always excited to come across acetates of home recordings; one of a kind discs and usually fascinating to listen to. So obviously I'm also looking forward to "Hicksville's Christmas Greetings 1948." Thanks for digging all these up and rescuing them from oblivion. Ok, maybe I should thank Internet Archive, so thank you for gathering them together and posting them for us all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, all! Nice to know people are still with me. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, Hicksville is quite the place. And most of the people there are named Fred, apparently.
The 78s keep coming, but the work load is increasing as the usual season approaches. I look forward to it finally coming to an end.
And yes, all thanks go to the IA, they're the ones rescuing this stuff from history's dustbin. I'm just trawling through it and trying to bring some of it to life for the folks who can appreciate it. I've found some great stuff, and I hope others have too!
