Strike Up The Band

This was the other half of my 2007 opening salvo of shares.  You only get half an album, but what a half.  The Salvation Army put this band together in 1967, and they became much more popular than one might imagine.  I think this was their only US release, although they put out more LPs and singles in the UK and Australia.  Heaven knows how I stumbled across a copy, but I did, and I'm sharing it with you.  Please download yourself a copy of the A side of  The Joy Strings-Well Seasoned (Epic BN 26321, Stereo, 1967)

1. We Three Kings Of Orient Are
2. Silent Night, Holy Night
3. The Little King Jesus
4. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
5. Away In A Manger
6. Mary's Little Boy Child
7. Do You Hear What I Hear?
8. The Holly And The Ivy

  1. The best of the best of the best. Other than this one, I can't think of any of your shares that made me feel more like Christmas than "December" from the Mills Brothers (and that one was shared in July). In fact, anybody who missed those Christmas In July collections needs to go back and get them. What you do in July is a public service and a humanitarian effort. What you do in December is unfathomable.

  7. I haven't re-recorded it yet. I did find a single pulled from the LP and I wanted to record that to see if they are different versions, but I haven't done it yet. Maybe next year.
