Modern Cult Audio Library

Here's a set of five records that no home should be without. From The Audio Bible Society Of America, this is Modern Cult Audio Library. With these records, you can learn everything you need to know to be in a cult. No, wait, this is an anti-cult collection. You can learn the theology and history of six different cults, and how you can meet their arguments. The six cults in question are the Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Scientists, Unity, Unitarianism and Spiritism. Hmmmm, I'd better lay off the sarcastic comments, or I may get in trouble all the way around. I just hope Tom Cruise doesn't stumble across this post. By the way, each of these records is on 7" vinyl with a big hole, but they play at 16-2/3 rpm. I don't have a turntable that spins at that speed, so you're going to have to live without the audio from this collection. Sorry...

  4. I've no clue about the year. Some searches on the internet didn't turn up any copies of the record. There are no zip codes listed, so it pre-dates those. It could go back even further, maybe 50, but I'm not sure. I guess further research is in order.

  6. My limited research has shown that 16-2/3 RPM records came into being for use in Chrysler cars back in 1956. Sometime after that, they became popular for audio books (before cassette tapes, I believe). That's only narrowing down the date a little bit, but a little bit is better than nne. I did find that they issued audio books on records that spun at 8-1/3 RPM for a while. Now I have to try and find some of those!

  7. Here's something that works for me. Record the discs at 33 and 1/3 rpm to your computer, encoded at something like a 44khz. sample rate. Then, halve the sample rate and it will play at approximately the correct speed. Then, you can always recode those files back to 44khz. Works for me.

  8. I just picked this collection up at a yard sale the other day. It only has 2 out of the 5 records in it though. I also was 'blessed' with another set called "faith & freedom" from the same company. It covers Americanism & Communism in the context of faith. If you ever digitized the cult collection let me know if I could get the audio of the pieces I am missing please!
