It's Mind, Not Yours

I tried to post this last night, but Blogger was down. Here's a little bit of Jimmy Boyce At The Console-The Organ Blows It's Mind (Concert Recording CR-0111). This is the exact same stuff they played at the roller rinks before they discovered that people would rather just listen to regular music. And, man, is it bad!

  1. What was fun about the instrument was that it was *so* loud, you could hear it almost a block away from the rink (which was made out of concrete!).
Unfortunately, he could only play the Wurlitzer for the whole session (from about 7 until 10-ish) one night a week; the rest of the time he had to use the Hammond for half the evening because of the amount of electricity the blower took.
It was really something to see all the locals as well as those from other parts of the DC Metro area fill the floor to almost packed when he'd start "Baby Elephant Walk" or one of the others.
