Bombing Run

I shot this series of pictures out on Anna Maria Island today. The whole afternoon, there were flocks of pelicans and seagulls and terns feasting on fish just offshore. I watched and shot for hours, but I think this is the best sequence of shots. You can follow the whole operation from normal flight, to sudden deceleration, to dive bomb and splashdown!

I don't think I've ever spotted an obvious fish in their beak when they pop back up out of the water. They just pop up and float around for a few minutes until they get hungry again.

Love the 9141 frame especially - should be the squadron patch design for some Naval rescue team!
