Bombing Run

I shot this series of pictures out on Anna Maria Island today. The whole afternoon, there were flocks of pelicans and seagulls and terns feasting on fish just offshore. I watched and shot for hours, but I think this is the best sequence of shots. You can follow the whole operation from normal flight, to sudden deceleration, to dive bomb and splashdown!

where are the aftermath shots?? was the bombing run successful???

I don't think I've ever spotted an obvious fish in their beak when they pop back up out of the water. They just pop up and float around for a few minutes until they get hungry again.

Love the 9141 frame especially - should be the squadron patch design for some Naval rescue team!
