06-We'll Have A Blue Christmas, Elvis

Another day, another share. And for most of us, it's time to go back to work after a long Thanksgiving Day weekend. Hope you had a good one. No, wait, I'm a day off, today is Tuesday. 1. Hi Ernie, I cannot believe you have taken the time to transfer all these 45 singles to your computer, etc. Then taken more time to make playlists of them.
These are a dream come true.
While I appreciate all the albums you have offered over the few years I have known your blog, my favorites are the compilations.
With various artists delivering their take of seasonal offerings. One gets tired of hearing an artist, sometimes..., doing a complete album.
I love variety. I love those box sets I have found on the internet from the Record Houses way back when.
So again, thank you for a most enjoyable Christmas season, so far. I can tell, you will be thrilling us with loads of things to come this season.
    Bryan

    1. Yeah, collections of stuff are always more interesting unless it's a really, really good album. At least here you can skip ahead if you don't like the song and know that the next one is going to sound completely different. :)

  2. Lots of real good ones on the playlist today! Plus I have a handful of the ones posted today in my Christmas 45 box. I have the original "Black label with silver print" version of "Jingle Bell Rock", plus the mid-'50's pressing of "Christmas Alphabet" and the Satchmo "Twas the Night Before Christmas" in its original sleeve.

    1. Hopefully there is more stuff in the pile that you don't have than stuff you do have. If not, then I have failed in my quest.

  3. I also have that Eddie Fisher 45 in my Collection as well; one of my seasonal favorites from him; the composers of "Christmas Day" went on to compose several hits for Connie Francis in the '60's.

    1. Eddie Fisher features heavily on a hypothetical Star Wars Christmas mix I have in my head, alongside Debbie Reynolds. Pickin's are slim so I've got to make connections where I can find them. Sergio Mendez is in there too, how's that for stretching?

  4. I actually prefer Patti Page's original Mercury version over the Columbia remake posted here; that Columbia Patti Christmas album is just too cutesy with the children's chorus.

    1. I think there's plenty of Patti on Mercury sprinkled throughout the season.

  5. Here is one of the seasonal Elvis tribute records that you don't have in your Collection; the maudlin "Goodbye Bing, Elvis, and Guy" by Diana Williams:

    1. I actually picked this one up on CD just this past weekend on a K-tel collection of Elvis tribute songs. There are lots more, trust me.

  6. Also appropriate that you used Tito Jackson for the liner of the day today, being that we lost him earlier this Fall.

  7. Hey, here's the Spike Jones version of Betty Johnson's "I Want Eddie Fisher for Christmas." I wrote about it not long ago. Speaking of Eddie, I'm going to post a 1954 Christmas Seals record from him with "Christmas Day" on it. Probably tomorrow. Also celebrity Christmas Seals plugs. No Jermaine Jackson, but Rocky Marciano, Lionel Barrymore and other notables of the time.

This is quite the collection, I hasten to add. You have the darndest stuff.

    1. I love the celebrity greetings! I didn't have any new ones of those this season, but I think I'm making good use of some old ones. Perhaps we should get together and try to do a collection that covers all the Christmas Seal records. Not sure if we've got them all, but I bet we've got a lot!

  8. Oh, I remember Barbi Benton. Before your time. Quite the looker, and still around at 74 or so.

    1. No, no, I remember her. I was little, but I remember. Not sure if anyone else would, so thanks for mentioning her. It's a Janis Ian song, so now I have to track down the original.
