And now that the last share is out of the way, I'll say thanks to all of my visitors for making it a great season. I shared out over 24 hours worth of songs from singles, and two albums a day for an entire month. I was very excited to be able to flood your collections with new music, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks again for all your visits, your comments, the music you shared back with me in many cases, and especially the many Christmas cards you sent my way. I think my GF really understands now just how much this music means to my many visitors. She says she doesn't mind the time I spend working on my music and the blog, but I think she's just being polite. I try hard to strike a balance between the time I spend with her and the time I spend on the computer, but sometimes I get wrapped up and suddenly it's bedtime... You know how it goes. But I digress. I will see you all in July, I hope, with some Christmas In July fun. I have no idea how that might go, or what I might do, but I'm sure I'll make something up for you. Merry Christmas!
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYour very welcome! Merry Christmas!
DeleteThank you for all the musical uploads. Can't wait for July!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! Hope you found something worth listening to a second time. :)
DeleteThank you so much, Ernie! You brought me so much joy this season, and you blew my mind with so many singles that I I never knew existed! You are the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I feel like I barely scratched the surface. Hope you heard something worth keeping. Merry Christmas!
DeleteHi Ernie! With my move to the desert I wasn't able to listen to hardly any of the goodies you offered, but I'm looking forward to already having a bunch of unheard stuff to explore for the next holiday. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be there when you get to it. Enjoy! And Merry Christmas!
DeleteYou sure outdid yourself this year. If you posted 24 hours of music, I can't even imagine how long it took to prepare those records. Truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteJust a little bit at a time, that's all it takes. I've got two singles in the can for next year already. :)
DeleteGot a great head start for next year! It would be nice if you would do a post full of links to the non-Christmas Winter themed tunes you posted this season for those who want to enjoy them throughout the Winter months. Looking forward to checking out some more of your 2022 posts when I have the time. Great job!
DeleteThanks for the note. I'm not sure I'd be able to find all the winter-themed songs much better than my visitors could, since I don't have them tagged with anything special like I should. But a quick search of Winter or Snow should lead you to a lot of them. Enjoy!
DeleteThanks!
DeleteDude! Gosh! Wow! Looking at my 2022 folder of your shares, close to 500 items in it. They're not all ZIPs, but it's an incredible amount of impressively generous work that you've done for the sole purpose of being a really generous guy. You are very much THAT GUY. I want to be THAT GUY too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much for your efforts and technical accomplishments, man. Take care and be well.
I think there were 295 regular Christmas shares, 60 shares of Christmas from 78s, and a couple of reshares from previous seasons, so it sounds like you've got plenty in there that wasn't mine, or maybe duplicates. :) Well, it may be closer to that if you took the sub-folders out of the little batches I made, like Christmas Characters or war songs. That would probably get you close to the 500 number. Oh, I forgot about Christmas in July. That would get you there... Anyhow, it was a lot. I hope you found something good to listen to. Merry Christmas!
DeleteErnie, you always celetrete new year with many songs in many versions but never a beuatiful song like "Let's Start the New Year Right" from movie "Holiday Inn" ...
ReplyDeleteThat's because Bing's is the only version I see out there, and you can get it from any number of places. I try to shy away from the stuff you can legally download any old place. You wouldn't want the blog to get shut down, would you? :)
DeleteOk thank you
DeleteThanks, friend! The world of Christmas music would not be the same without you. You have contributed so much time and energy to share this with all of us. You rock!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brad. Just a minor little obsession of mine. :)
DeleteOverdosing on music from your blog, other blogs (Buster), Amazon Music, Internet Archive and even the old Ipod. Had to throw out another Bose unit today but I had a spare. Enjoy your time off from that hard work-if you do ever get to slack up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI got a new pair of Noise Cancelling Bose Headphones for Christmas this year, the old pair died when I left some batteries in them for the duration of the pandemic. Hard to fly without them. Thanks for the note, and have a Merry Christmas!
DeleteYou are amazing, Ernie! It's been a great year! I was gone, over New Years, and you sure put out the music, just like Fire Works at New Years :) Over the year, you were one reason I was forced to break up my Christmas iTunes into 2!! No problem about that :) Looking forward to Christmas in July already :) On a side note, Merry Christmas to all Ukrainian's and those that celebrate in the Orthodox manner :)
ReplyDeleteI have all of it in a single database. Imagine the pain... Thanks for the note and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
DeleteWell done, laddie, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHappy Epiphany Day Ernie. Thank you so much for all the great shares this season. We appreciate you here more than you know.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, I appreciate my visitors, too. :)
DeleteThank you! My favorite share this year has been the Mighty Tubadours. What a charming find!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that was a good one! Thanks for the note, and Merry Christmas!
DeleteThank you for another fun year!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!
DeleteThanks! Again, it's been one hell of a posting year. All the weekly posts this past year would have been more than enough let alone the xmas seasonal ones. Just an incredible amount of tunes. I thank you. My 80 year old Mom really thanks you. Now you have 6 months or so to make it up to the gf. And you should. ha.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get some stuff in the can early this year, so I've already recorded one a day in January. We'll see how long I can keep that up. Thanks for the note, Merry Christmas to you and Mom, too!
DeleteThanks for another great year! I still have some downloading to do...
ReplyDeleteIt'll still be there when you get to it. :) Thanks for your support!
DeleteThis story gets more and more implausible every year! Just 1 man named Ernie can gift out alllll this music in 1 month?? impossible! Ernie thanks again for all the shares, the music you dig up just seems to get better and better every year, and my whole family enjoys the fruits of your labour throughout the season... our heartfelt thank you to you and yours. -Seth
ReplyDeleteIt just takes a bit of planning, that's all. And lots and lots of time, you can't leave it until the last minute. :) Oh, and then there's the effort to find the music, which seems to get harder and harder every year. Thankfully I have some deep archives at this point. :)
DeleteThanks for the note, hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Got my first major pile of Christmas music for the year today at Goodwill. A lot of them are probably copyright restricted like Christq
ReplyDeleteChristmas with Eddy Arnold and Henry Mancini, Songs of Christmas from the Norman Luboff Choir, Christmas Songs from Billy Vaughn in Stereo, and an original Mono pressing of Lawrence Welk's Silent Night album on Dot Records. However, I also picked up three that could have potential blog status in the future: Christmas with Johnny Cole on Sutton Records, Christmas from Charlie McCoy on Monument, and O Tannenbaum: Christmas on the Rhine from Werner Muller, a German bandleader best known for his accompaniment work alongside Caterina Valente, who never cut any Christmas songs to my knowledge. There also was Chick Wagon Gang Christmas, an RCA Record club Christmas LP, and Joy to the World by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir plus the Statler Brothers Christmas Card, yet I passed on those because I am kind of selective when it comes to purchasing Christmas music. Just wanted to share my seasonal record finds with you. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff all, but in my humble opinion, that's the worst Lawrence Welk Christmas album out there. IIRC, it's all organ & harpsichord instrumentals, and to me it doesn't even sound like his usual jaunty style. I went through one year and recorded all of his Christmas albums, and that was the only one I was disappointed with.
DeleteIf you want his "Usual Jaunty Style" on the Lawrence Welk Silent Night album, the best cut in my opinion is his take on "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" done in the style of "Calcutta" that has got some great Frank Scott harpsichord work. It is more bland than most Welk Christmas albums. The Coral version of "Thanks For Christmas", featuring Alice Lon on Merry Christmas From Lawrence Welk and his Champagne Music (later reissued on Mistletoe/Springboard in abridged form as Christmas with Lawrence Welk) is better than the reverential version on the Silent Night album! I do agree with your comments--it could have been better.
ReplyDeleteS-H-H Be Quiet is a gem
ReplyDeleteThey're all got their high spots. Be sure you grab the other set from the start of the season!
DeleteHi Ray!, found on Discogs a ninth 45 in the series of Santa's Land with songs by Ray King.
ReplyDeleteWho's Ray? :) Yes, that was added sometime in the last year. It's on my list. Based on the catalog numbers, there are other missing records. And a whole LP is missing as well, but I suspect it's just got tracks from these singles on it.
DeleteIs there any chance you could republish the Ray Charles Singer Christmas albums on Mega as they no longer are available on MediaFire or Zippyshare?
ReplyDeleteBe patient, and keep checking back... ;)
