Top O' The World
My adventures in Chicago took a turn for the better today when the heavens cleared and the sun came out. I got out of my convention a few minutes early, caught a train right in rush hour (Thankfully I was going against the grain, which meant the train I was on was relatively empty, but I had to wait 45 minuted for it to come...), dropped my bag off at the hotel and headed out on foot with my trusty camera. The shot above is from the 103rd floor Skydeck at the top of the Sears Tower, the tallest building in this hemisphere. I was afraid I wasn't going to make it up there during my trip, not because I didn't think I'd get the free time, but because they close at 8 pm. But I got there well before that, even on foot and after joining a peace rally for a few minutes. I spent the rest of the day, and a big chunk of the night, exploring my way across town, moving from landmark to landmark on my quest for a decent picture. I'll share plenty of them when I get home, but for now, I gotta get some sleep.
peace rally? do tell us you got pics of that!?!?!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Terrific shot.
ReplyDeleteGreat how everything came together to make this photo op possible. I suppose that, in some other time band, another Ernie is blogging about how he barely made it to the site, and only to have the picture ruined by the thick cloud cover. In that alternate dimension, the convention ran over, of course.
Awesome image. Lucky you.
and in some other reality, he didn't get bumped, didn't get the free flight.
ReplyDeleteand in yet another, he got bumped on both legs of the flight.
in another, he made it to sears tower only to have it start raining.
LOL this game is fun!
it was meant to be a play on the nick-of-time aspect of ernie's narrative. it's kind of a one-shot joke that, imo, loses its point with repetition. it's already been done to death by sci-fi writers, anyway, if you think about it.
ReplyDeleteexcuse the crap outta me! "nick-of-time" -- I must be stupid because I don't know that reference. guess I don't deserve to come to this blog anymore.
ReplyDelete... actually, each of the things I said could be taken as one-shots. and maybe you didn't realize, each thing I said is something E(nB) worried about.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous--Woah, I did not mean to sound insulting. Guess I just get too full of myself sometimes. I apologize in triplicate. Quadruplicate. Apoligies to Ernie too.
ReplyDeleteHope it cleared up for you Ernie. The last time I was there, it rained the whole time. Did you manage to get out to the Navy Pier area? There are some decent shots to be had from there. (Even if it's raining!)
