Flaky Accordions

Well, I was wrong. That last record does not feature a track from all the Snowflake Records releases because I found a release from them that's not represented on the sampler. And what luck, this one features the accordion, and instrument I don't think I've featured so far this year. You know I love to bring you Christmas records that feature unique instruments, and this one fit snugly into that category. Have a listen to Snowflake Records-Christmas Accordians (Snowflake Records ST145, Stereo, 1986). I'm sure Snowflake Records is not the name of the artist here, but I hate to use Unknown Artist. This name sort of ties it to this release instead of making it truly generic. And isn't it spelled accordion, not accordian? Weird...

1. The Christmas Song
2. Silent Night

9. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
10. Silver Bells

  1. That Santa on the cover doesn't sound like he's too happy about the whole thing. Jolly Old St. Nick he's not.

    1. If they used your picture to sell an accordion Christmas record, you wouldn't be too happy either.

    1. Laurie - I think you have been listening to too many Rainbow Brite Christmas records.

  4. I've had this one on tape since I was a kid. One of my top favorite obscure Christmas albums.

    1. But it's not an organ record. You might need to change your name.

    2. Ha! I do own an accordion though. It's very beautiful, lavender pearl, with purple encrusted letters that spell RICHARD, it's huge and heavy. I have a modified a hi-lo safety harness I use to pick it up and play it. Can I play though? Nope. But I love it.

  6. There's just something recursive about an accordion drawn on an accordion. Kinda like seeing a mirror in a mirror in a mirror, ad infinitum.

    1. I used to love going to the barber shop where they had the mirrors across from each other.

  7. This would be the kind of Christmas record that would be in Jon Arbuckle's collection. The only accordion music I listen to during the holidays is Morty Nevins' work on the Three Suns Christmas albums.
