Last Century
Here's a good overnight religious record for you, courtesy of The Centurymen. Technically I suppose these guys are now The Last Centurymen, but I'll try not to be pedantic. If the hype on the cover here is to be believed (and I have no reason not to believe it), this is the sound of one hundred Southern Baptist ministers of music joining together in the singing of Christmas carols. Sounds impressive! This is The Centurymen-Traditions Of Christmas (T.C. Records/Sutra Record TC 1 for The Radio And Television Commission Of The Southern Baptist Convention, Stereo).

This interesting :)
ReplyDelete100 ministers of music. That could have been. Back in the 70's... it was the "in thing" for Gospel groups/organizations to put out albums with 1000 member choirs. Both The Salvation Army and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association put out LPs featuring different 1000 member choirs.
Sort of becomes a bit of a muddle if you aren't careful. The more voices you add the harder is gets, but I don't remember this one being too bad.
DeleteI feel like the lady with 246 bells should combine forces with these people.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it would be enough...
