From The Woodman

Here's a remaster from another really old share 'round these parts. This was first shared here-abouts in 2006, our second year of Christmas fun. I remember enjoying some bits of this record, and wondering where the 'Latin Lilt' got off to. To my ears, it doesn't sound much like what you envision as Latin music, I guess they were more referring to the Latin American location of the recording of the missionaries who produced this record. And is that cover image a pic of Rockefeller Center at Christmas? Pretty sure it is something we've seen time and again on Christmas album covers. I feel like I saw those same angels used as decoration during a trip to NYC a few years ago (I even used it as the cover of a Christmas in July comp!). Odd that this would grace a 'Latin' Christmas album cover. Anyhow, give a listen to this new remaster of Bruce Woodman Presents Christmas Carols With A Latin Lilt (No Label SAC-1002, Stereo). Enjoy!

Like Honey To A Bee

Here's yest another Christmas album from an artist I've never heard of but which seems to have some following out there. When I first spotted this record in the stacks (no idea how or when it got there, I don't remember buying this) I thought it was Cissy Spacek playing Loretta Lynn. I guess that's not at all the case, but that is certainly the vide and look I got when I first laid eyes upon it. Not sure the music is in that vein at all, but I can't help but expect it to be. This is Honeytree-Merry Christmas-Love, Honeytree (Birdwing BWR 2029, Stereo, 1981).

Bank On It

Four o'clock in the morning, less than two weeks until Christmas. Time to drop some more of these religious LPs that I have so many of. If you listen to enough of these, eventually you'll find something to love on them. I'm not saying this is the one, but it could be. Is that a leisure suit on Roger? Look at those lapels! And that is a lot of kids. This is Roger Bankson-Home For Christmas (Benson Sound LPS-553, Stereo).
