Bank On It
Four o'clock in the morning, less than two weeks until Christmas. Time to drop some more of these religious LPs that I have so many of. If you listen to enough of these, eventually you'll find something to love on them. I'm not saying this is the one, but it could be. Is that a leisure suit on Roger? Look at those lapels! And that is a lot of kids. This is Roger Bankson-Home For Christmas (Benson Sound LPS-553, Stereo).
1. Earth's Tiny King
2. Away In A Manger
3. O Come, All Ye Faithful
4. It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
5. Silver Bells
6. O Holy Night
7. Silent Night
8. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
9. Jingle Bells
2. Away In A Manger
3. O Come, All Ye Faithful
4. It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
5. Silver Bells
6. O Holy Night
7. Silent Night
8. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
9. Jingle Bells

Roger not only has the leisure suit, he has the helmet hair than was universal back then (at least among men).
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the cover, for a few seconds I thought "Earth's Tiny King" was one of the performers. It's early.
There should be a whole section in my collection for leisure suits. :)
DeleteI'm here for them! I see them all over eBay and I'm always curious about them, especially when the cover looks like this. Haven't seen this one before!
ReplyDeleteThere are certainly a lot of them out there, though you may be the only one actually downloading them. :)
DeleteI have quirky taste.
DeleteI had never heard of Roger, but I love anything Benson Records :) Like Laura G.... I'm always looking :)
ReplyDeleteBenson did a lot of this stuff. Hard for me to tell know from the next. Did you grab the Benson sampler from a couple years ago?

Thanks Ernie. My parents had that LP since I was in Junior High. Some friends gave it to them. Might have been my first introduction to Benson :)
DeleteOf course, I love The Bill Gaiter Trio, and others from the sampler :)
Based solely on the cover image, it looks like Roger has two wives; three kids with the brunette and one kid with the blonde...the angle of her head makes the oldest daughter look older (not to mention the age difference from her siblings).
ReplyDeleteStranger things have gone on in these families...
